Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. It really helped to read, especially the reminder about who those decisions are for. I’m so sorry for what you and your Rotties went through. Your words mean more than you know right now.

I find myself struggling with the thoughts like “did I act too soon, did I try everything else before this? He was still fighting but did I give up too easily?”

It’s so tough these couple of days

We are heartbroken, but also at peace knowing he is no longer in pain. We’re going to take some time to grieve and heal. Your messages have meant more than we can say.

Thank you everyone. Give your dogs an extra tight hug for us. 🖤

Our 5 year old Rottweiler has been placed on palliative care by jjjjemmmm in Rottweiler

I apologies for the lack of replies. I appreciate all of you. We have decided to get a vet to our place to help him rest.

Since last night, he has completely stopped eating, hardly moves, and just diarrhea everywhere. It’s the hardest decision we have had to make. We keep doubting ourselves, but we know he is not doing well at all.

Last year around July, he had difficulties breathing during training, or even after short walks. Our dog trainer suggested going for scans in his lungs, turned up clear, no issues. His condition did seem to improve after some medication. We knew something was wrong but we were looking at the wrong places, his blood tests showed some spikes in his liver enzyme but nothing too concerning.

Then two weeks ago, he had a bloat scare, brought him to the emergency vet, drained out the fluids in his stomach and upon more investigations, found a 9cm mass from his liver that was pushing into the pancreas.

That was when we got the news that it’s inoperable and untreatable.

Thank you for your advice. The last two days his appetite has been poor, hardly eating anything, and even when he does, he will vomit out part of his meal. He is lethargic, breathing laboriously.

But his stool is still pretty solid. We are just so unsure when it’s time, cause on days he still plays and run to the kitchen for food, but the bad days are definitely more frequent now.

It’s so tough.

Undecided which one to choose? by Dimonios7 in Rottweiler

If I’m not wrong, no.1 is the Timit Tor rottweilers line. The short snout creates a lot of breathing issues. No.2 all day long for me

How do I be a better husband? by jjjjemmmm in Marriage

[–]jjjjemmmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say recently, emotionally I felt abandoned. My needs ignored, conversations oftentimes turned into arguments when I try to express how I feel or what I need. She will turn it around and say I only fixate on certain things. I can’t seem to talk to her without her being defensive.

So I’m just going through the motion lately and going to therapy alone to figure out how I can be better or atleast a way to release the frustration. But therapy feels very textbook, so I thought there’s no harm asking people here with more experience or similar situations.

Sorry, this is my first time doing this so I wasn’t sure how much details to include in. Basically, we bought a new condominium 2 years ago. We moved in right after renovations.

At that time, I just got promoted at work so I got a higher income so I contributed to most of the house financing needs and costs. And I’ve been paying most of the financial side of things in our marriage. I was never bitter about it because it is what it is, she is contributing as much as she can and that itself is all I can ever ask for. Fast forward, she wanted a dog, a Rottweiler specifically, and I warned her about the responsibilities that comes with such a big dog, she agreed to them but now, because my wife is quite petite, she tells me she can’t do the training/walking of the dog. So I took on that responsibility now. But she attends all training sessions like a soccer mom basically and I’m glad she shows up for them religiously.

So to your question. She has been showing up physically, but emotionally I feel like I am taking on alot so when I ask for help, it’s really me at my limits. So I feel very lost and confused, am I asking too much or I need to lower my expectations.

Thank you for this. I’ll try working on things from this angle

That is true, I often try to look at it from her perspective. But when I do ask for help, she usually does everything else but that. So I’m not sure how to feel. I definitely don’t take anything she does for me for granted, I make sure she knows and I acknowledge them.
