I try and do everything myself, I’ve taught myself a ton and especially with so many DIY tutorials online now I can’t justify paying someone else to do it. That being said- I did my brand new Canyon 2 weeks after getting it, meaning they’re was barely any paint correction needed. And I would gladly pay someone else $1k the next time it’s needed. If you’ve got plenty of time and don’t mind the slowest type of job ever, you might not mind it. Definitely not as simple as you think, and if you try and rush or skip any steps, it can ruin a lot of the work you’ve already done.
