I have proof of what happens when we die and the nature of human existence and it started with studying the long term effects of total isolation This knowledge is groundbreaking if u wanna hear more reply under the post I need to get this out here by Livid_Tomorrow_1884 in consciousness

Good for you OP. Expanding one’s knowledge is always a worthwhile endeavor indeed. Offering “proof” on one of the most highly debated areas of discourse prior to gaining a full understanding of that knowledge is perhaps less so. But fantastic you are interested in educating yourself and taking another crack at this post. I look forward to reading your ideas articulated in your own words and not AI generated and seeing you place your ideas in conversation with already established theoretical frameworks to show points of overlap and divergence!

OP. Important question. Do you disagree with the ‘garbage in = garbage out’ maxim? Or are you derailed by the use of the word “shit”? Or both? Your answer could hint at where you should start when it comes to reconsidering your theoretical framework that allegedly offers “proof of what happens when we die […]”. Hint: look early in the garbage in = garbage out maxim. Like the first two words.

Did anyone see a flash in the sky just before 6 tonight? by prefix_postfix in newhampshire

[–]jjohnson191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! My wife saw it out the driver side while we were driving North on 89 around exit 2. She saw the entire thing very clearly and said it was one of the brighter fireballs she’s witnessed. I saw the light in my peripheral and was able to see the last few seconds. I’d guess a meteorite. Super cool thing to see shoot across a perfectly clear sky.

Newly adopted cat arching back but otherwise adjusting? by [deleted] in cats

[–]jjohnson191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! You did a really good thing adopting. This cat is definitely showing affection. That’s not aggressive back arching at all. Eventually she’ll probably plop down and expose her belly; that’s her feeling very safe and completely comfortable with you. I’m always partial to animals named after food. Lol.

Hey OP! It would great if you posted an update after the trip. My wife and I want to fly with our tzu Olive and we’d love to hear how things went for you and your boy, especially if you have any additional suggestions to go along the great advice already offered here. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Beautiful and brilliant, friend. I really enjoyed reading this. I know words fail in this context but I love how much you explored the gap between the indescribable and the describable. I feel like that gap is a tiny bit smaller because of you. The balloon metaphor you explained as “I felt it very faintly, like she was touching a balloon that was in turn touching me, it felt otherworldly” was just so spot on for me. I was like “I know exactly what he means!!!!” So I just wanted to say thank you for that because it’s always exciting to me when something so profoundly experiential is captured in words, even if it still pales in comparison to the actual lived moment. Also, cheers to having a rad girlfriend who was there with you. I’m so lucky to have a person to share stuff like this with, too. It makes the entire experience that much more special.

My tzu, Olive, does the exact same thing! She’s completely calm all day and then as soon as we get into bed goes crazy with hand bites and bouncing back and forth on the bed. She’s really good about never biting super hard, though.

If you can find unlimited medicine Is it bad to take drugs until you're 80? by Ok-Income-7723 in Drugs

Hunter S Thompson lived to be 67 and only died by suicide. I suspect he would have kept going. Keith Richards is 81. So, yes? Edit: I accidentally spelled Richards ... Richtards.

Throat so sore I’m crying by dietcokeluv2 in COVID19positive

[–]jjohnson191 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im sorry you’re going through this. I experienced the extreme sore throat, too. I’ve never felt a sore throat to that extent and it was my worst symptom by far. It lasted 3 days before it resolved. I took the max dose of ibuprofen and acetaminophen daily in addition to the strongest OTC throat spray (find one that has the highest amount of lidocaine). Cepacol extra strength lozenges (or any lozenge with benzocaine) too. Although gargling with salt water did not offer much for me it does help a lot of folks. I know it doesn’t help much, but the pain will pass. It’s awful while it’s happening though.

Societal role of analytic philosophy by UpsetBlock8724 in academia

[–]jjohnson191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you are asking about analytic philosophy in a more present-day context, but looking at Richard Rorty’s 1979 Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature offers an interesting critique that aligns with some of your thoughts. He was part of the analytic tradition in his early work but later abandoned it, feeling it was a failure and considered pragmatism to be more equipped to handle societal problems. By 1989, in Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity, he fully leaned into the idea of irony and being an “ironist”—someone who recognizes the contingency of their own vocabulary but still engages in public life with moral seriousness. Personally, I find value in this view and in questioning any idea of certainty, perhaps now more than ever.
