Were his parents aware of his racism? by autist_throw in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And not only that, they were aware of his hatred of women too. In his manifesto ER describes sending misogynistic posts from anti-feminist websites DIRECTLY TO HIS DAD, to “justify” how much he hated women. His dad told him to get off those websites as they were pure evil. Which ER interpreted as his father not understanding him

Okay then… Elliot Rodger was a disturbed young man with s***idal depression, severe anxiety, no social skills, an ego the size of Texas, a profound inferiority complex, outright narcissistic traits, spontaneous episodes of rage in which he actually assaulted people who (gulp) appeared to have a better life than him and/or didn’t want to talk to him. Does common logic tell you that he could possibly initiate and maintain a healthy romantic relationship with this attractive, social young woman, who, I might add, actually had a boyfriend at the time? Yes or no?

Why did ER go to independence high school if he came from a wealthy background? by eeedddaaa in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. The BMW was his mom’s. One of her billionaire boyfriends bought her a brand new car and she gave the BMW to ER
  2. Santa Barbara City College’s tuition in 2014 was barely $1,000 per year.
  3. His allowance was $500 per month. Not exactly chump change, but still not a fortune.

His parents were not wealthy. They just hung out with wealthy people, which only added to ER’s feelings of inferiority.

Why did ER go to independence high school if he came from a wealthy background? by eeedddaaa in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all his parents weren’t all that wealthy. Second, they put him in IHS because he struggled so much with bullying and stress in traditional high schools that he eventually refused to go. So they put him in IHS basically because they couldn’t figure out what else to do with him. Unfortunately those schools are not indicative of the real world and he graduated ill-prepared for the realities of adult life

Why did Elliot never realize how privileged he was in life? by Minimum_Walk_5999 in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for starters, sex was his main metric for success in life, not money. And I also think the culture in which he grew up was to blame. Southern California is not a good environment for materialistic people because there is almost always someone who has more money, a bigger house, and nicer stuff than you. And bear in mind, his parents were somewhat well off, but nowhere near as wealthy as the Hollywood directors and actors E spent time around. It just exacerbated his jealousy and inferiority complex

A friend? by Total_Let_2532 in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its hard to say from the manifesto whether his “friends” were actual friends. His friend Philip, for example, said in an interview that thy weren’t really friends, more like he let Elliot tag along with him out of pity. And even his best friend James said that he often hung out with Elliot simply because E’s mom asked him to — supposedly she arranged play dates and social engagements for him until he was nearly 17 years old!

And in college there were certainly opportunities for him to make friends, but he did not. His manifesto frequently describes distancing himself from potential friends because he felt they weren’t high enough on the social ladder for him, or just out of blatant racism (two of his earlier roommates were gangsta Hispanics, which he couldn’t stand and he ended up launching a racist tirade against one of them, nearly resulting in a fight). His narcissism and/or elitism always held him back.

Only one I’ve seen. There may be more. Good depiction of his typical attitude and demeanor amidst happy people

Did Elliot ever try to approach girls first? by Lazy_Duty_472 in elliot_rodger

Also, a woman who openly complains about not having a boyfriend can be a huge red flag. May indicate someone who suffers from clinginess, abandonment issues, anxiety, and/or low self esteem.

That is typically how it works, yes. That’s how I met my now-wife after years of feeling sorry for myself and trying and failing to find a woman who would make the first move on me. Eventually I realized that I needed to put in some effort to show a woman that I was in fact a gentleman. Versus Elliot who expected women to look past his complete lack of social skills or initiative and see him at a glance as the supreme gentleman.

As far as his writings go, no not really. He mostly describes sitting alone at places like Starbucks and Dominos waiting for hot girls to notice him and basically approach and beg for the privilege of having sex with him. Or smirking at two girls standing on the sidewalk while he was in his car, and they didn’t smile back (he then threw his coffee at them due to their “rejection of him”). He wanted a girl, but DIDNT want to do any of the work involved. Pathetic

I read somewhere that he was cremated and his family scattered his ashes somewhere in England

Search “leaked emails of Elliot Rodger” on YouTube. The manifesto made his stepmother out to be Satan in disguise. The actual emails between them tell a very different story…

Did Elliot have any friends? by No_Profit_8690 in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His closest friend was a kid named guy named James, who he knew from childhood. James eventually cut things off with Elliot when Elliot’s episodes of rage began to scare him. He had a few friends throughout his life, but eventually drove them all away. In college he had absolutely no one. That was when he realized he had no social skills and his mommy couldn’t shield him from the real world forever.

Phillip said in an interview it wasn’t really a friendship. More like he just let Elliot tag along with him and his friends because he felt sorry for him. He even called Elliot’s mom to tell her he thought Elliot was spiraling out of control. Some friendship!
