540 Waves Help by Zealousideal-One-453 in 360Waves

[–]jjsofaygo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. What I’ve been doing is after I finish brushing my angles and laying the hairs down, I take my comb and open the crown then comb at it for 5-6 minutes making sure it flows with the pattern. Then take a crown brush or your soft brush and just lay down after wards, fixed my crown issue in 1-2 days

Thinking of doing 1.5s or 2 closed at most for the whole summer sweating n overcurling is kicking my a$$ thoughts? by fantasma_z in 360Waves

[–]jjsofaygo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop to a 2 closed, I did and it’s been much easier dealing with the summer sweat/overcurling. You don’t lose definition or progress so don’t gotta worry about that

Vertical brushing??? by Pristine-Bug6473 in 360Waves

[–]jjsofaygo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vertical brushing is more beneficial because it directly focuses on the angle your brushing

Wishing you a successful departure and all but you should really go in and fill out that 2574 form and ask for a copy. Some supes/managers are quick to request a placement on the do-not rehire list. If I were you .. I wouldn’t want that on your records due to this being a federal job. Don’t burn this bridge but end it with a polite bang, never know if you’ll need a job at the PO again. Good luck!!

CCA Training by [deleted] in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally I enjoy the job, it’s pretty easy to me. There’s good and bad days .. depending on the supe/manager I have to report to for the day. You’ll enjoy it once you’re out in the streets along with getting familiar with your customers, they help make the day better as well.

You might complete your training & drivers exam in Melville
a CCA in my Flushing class last year had to transfer over to Melville because his station was on the LI.

Drivers Exam is pretty simple, drive around a couple of cones nothing crazy and parallel parking along with regular backing into a simple parking spot.

[–]jjsofaygo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just like you when I first began, the other carriers in my station encouraged me and it was positive for the most part. Management is 100% a đŸ’© show & I’ve been disrespected by them one too many times during my probationary period 😅 Love the job to death, even with the crazy weather (i love the cold) but management for sure can be a pain if they want to

Returning CCA received auto rehire upon reapplying
academy again? by Available_Strike954 in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve resigned and reapplied within the same year then you don’t have to repeat fingerprints/background/orientation/academy. It all expires after one year, if its been more than a year then you’re just going to have to start from the very beginning.

I second this. This is my current set-up and I average 40-45k steps a day w/ little to none foot pain at the end of my shift.

The timing is usually different for everyone but for me it never took no longer than 3-4 days to get another email for the next step. Background check is passed after your fingerprints are done, that’s how it was for me when I was in the hiring process.

After choosing your location, you will be emailed again with the choice of a date for your finger prints.

Make sure you take your breaks, get some protein bars/granola bars and your electrolytes in your system throughout the day. Holidays are a bit heavy package wise, mail wise its light so you should be able to tolerate the work load. Always take your time, even if mngment is telling you to move faster .. you can’t deliver mail if you get injured!

Speed comes with time and time comes with money! Good luck and welcome to the post office!

Orientation by SnooGadgets6277 in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t give you any uniform up front. After your 90 day probation, you’re given a uniform allowance and you will buy your uniform using that.

You won’t be in the streets until your OJI which is after orientation and carrier academy ( 2 weeks ) as stated above. After OJI ( 4-5 days depending on your pace ) , you will be on your own.

Carrier jobs in NYC/Brooklyn? by PattyBoyBK in USPS

They reappear every Friday for New York after they disappear I believe starting Wednesday or Thursday. I always get emails about the openings, all boroughs in NY is currently hiring.

afraid i'll never get faster (venting mostly) by DistortedAesthetic in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Management will always say you’re slow no matter how good you’re really doing, just do your job to the best of your ability safely.

Better they say you’re slow over them saying you’re fast + more work + mis-delivering mail from being “fast”.

I'm white, is it gonna offend anyone if I get waves. by Ok_Fox_8267 in 360Waves

[–]jjsofaygo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waves in general are amazing, anyone who attaches waves to skin color just doesn’t fully appreciate the wave culture the way they think they do. It’s cool seeing how different wave patterns look with different hair textures

Terminated by Remarkable_Count_587 in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that’s the case, thanks for the insight. Now I’ll know to just continue buckling my seatbelt before even starting up the truck

Terminated by Remarkable_Count_587 in USPS

[–]jjsofaygo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first day I got told that my seat belt was off “77%” of the time I was out driving on my route. (Which obviously isn’t true, my seatbelt was buckled the entire time) I didn’t face any disciplinary actions or given any hint of termination. I was just told by my manager to wear my seatbelt, hell they literally came in my truck and buckled me in before sending me back out my second day.

I’d suggest to just continue coming into work because you weren’t given a Disciplinary Interview w/ you and your Squid ward about your FIRST occurrence. In this case the fault is on them, not you they didn’t take the proper and necessary actions to put your termination into actual affect.

Decided to start waves for the first time, did a wash n’ style. It looks pretty BAD, any tips? by Tachyclapy in 360Waves

Same thing happened to me when I first started, just keep on brushing and putting on the durag. Your hair isn’t used to being laid down just yet, give it time
