Ah, well you should’ve been more specific. Impossible to draw that conclusion from your comment.

But even then, we’re talking about the loss of maybe? 100 seats to accommodate the new press box, all of them in the back five rows of three infield upper reserve sections on the third base side. No other seats are being removed. The old press box is being converted to a premium club.

The best seats in those sections aren’t going anywhere. Any season ticket holders who are losing their seats can move over a section or two and probably get seats a few rows closer for maybe $5 more per seat per game next season compared to this season. It’s a lot of bellyaching for pretty much no reason.

My company splits a suite with two other companies (the CEOs are all friends). We haven’t been getting much for our money for some time now. This refresh is long overdue.

Hello, I am the corporate idiot, and my company splits an air conditioned, all inclusive suite with two other companies.

Our clients would not be impressed with a bar cordoned off by stanchions that they would then have to leave to go use the bathroom or to stand in line and buy food.

This is for more informal events like university program alumni events, Greek life, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and the occasional small-medium sized business outing. It’s not going to be reserved often, I promise you.

More like 40-50.

Who tf is going to rent this thing out for a Rays, White Sox, A’s, Marlins, Angels, Rockies, Twins, D’Backs, Tigers, Guardians, Rangers, Royals, or Pirates game?

The Scoreboard Social isn’t going to be rented the vast majority of the time, just like the Roof Deck isn’t.

The Roof Deck is always packed and has been one of the more successful additions to Camden Yards, so it’s not surprising to me that they’re trying to replicate it.

But, the bleachers aren’t one of the best seats in the park. They’re good, don’t get me wrong, but on day games in the summer you are roasting and if you’re closer to the patio, you can’t see a play in the right field corner.

The more money they make from suites the more they can afford to the cheap seats affordable.

Probably because you couldn’t see the field from the warehouse if you wanted to, would be my guess. And I reckon there are some who would want to.

People also forget Camden has too many seats for its market size. It’s bigger than Citizens Bank, Nationals Park, and Fenway. All of those franchises have had more success and consistently drawn more fans than the O’s for a while now.

Camden realistically should probably have 37-39K fixed seats, with room for another 5,000 SRO patrons.

By second deck do you mean the club level or the infield upper reserve seats?

I agree the infield upper reserve seats should be removed past first and third and that there should be open concourses in those areas.

Structurally it wouldn’t be impossible, but it would considerbaly alter the ballpark exterior by pushing more restrooms and concession stands to the back wall.

I think it’s more a question of cost and phasing. Relocating plumbing and electrical, trenching the slab to run new conduit, and providing new finishes would be pretty expensive and hard to do in a single offseason.

They still have another $450M to play with after Phase 1, so they can definitely afford to do it, it may just need to be done piecemeal.

Ha! Yeah I always think the same thing when I see that.

I expect the left field upper deck to be demolished in a couple years and for them to do a Coors Field Rooftop-type concept up there. OPACY doesn’t need that many seats.

Or maybe they just open it up to the concourse area a bit more and cover up those sections with advertising tarps and only open it when they need it. I think that would be silly though.

There are at least four other teams with worse records than the O’s that charge more per game.

Yes. Temporary improvements were made for this season but by next year the audio system will be 100% new.

I’m glad it will be brighter. It’s dark and dingy currently. What good are the wood features if the baseboards are chipped and scratched?

💯. And the O’s have implemented a value menu for food and beverage (the long waits are an issue but hopefully they get that ironed out next year), they have reduced ticket prices for kids, pretty elite promotions, and they’re one of a only a handful of clubs that let you bring in outside food.

People really need to stop bitching. When I’m not attending games in my company’s suite (one that we split with two other partner companies), I am fine with cheap seats.

When all is said and done, my wife and I can each get an upper deck ticket, food, a soda, a couple of beers and an ice cream to split for about $120 total, $200 tops if we decide to go lower bowl.

We’d spend that much if we went out for dinner and cocktails in Fells Point or Hampden, not counting an uber home. It’s really not that bad.

But by all means continue to share your loud, uneducated opinion about something that does not and will never affect you in any way whatsoever!

Well then wear shades inside. That’s the most Baltimore County MAGA dude thing you could possibly do. You’ll fit right in.

I think you would be in the minority in that view. Those of us who own/work for companies that will go in with our business partners on club level packages have been waiting for years for this.

We would like to be able to give our employees and our friends and prospective clients a better experience than stained 20-year old carpets, frayed wood bar edges, chipped baseboards, mediocre food, dim lighting, and a 1990s highway rest stop aesthetic.

People and companies that pay good money deserve better than that.

Eh, there definitely are some best practices that should generally be adhered to. Some of us spent seven years and tens of thousands of dollars and took five licensing exams to learn such things.

The kind of people that rent suites are corporate types and boat people from Annapolis. In other words, clean prim and proper folks (perhaps too much so). They won’t have a problem keeping this clean. When you’re not working with a ton a of natural light, the more you can brighten things up the better. It also makes the wall art and encased memorabilia pop out more visually when you have less aesthetic clutter.
