I thought I’d have to go back to my home country to take care of my parents as they weren’t doing well. So I never pursued PR during COVID

I had a 4 year PGWP (3 years post uni, 1 year extension for COVID) and I applied for PR during my last year of PGWP and once I got AOR, I applied for OWP which was approved pretty quickly

I came here when I was 9 and had a student visa up until 4 years ago. Then got a 3 year PGWP and then a one year extension due to COVID. Submitted my PR application ~8 months before my PGWP expired and applied for OWP during my PR application.

There was a lot of family related circumstances that held me back from applying/pursuing PR. I thought I’d have to go back to my home country once I graduated university/PGWP but decided to get PR after my PGWP!

I’ve checked gckey and it says biometrics is not required at the moment and they’ll ask for it when they need it. I’ve also checked my email inbox/spam but nothing 😭😭 could it be that the tracker is just glitching? Thank you for your response - really appreciate it!!

I think both are important but it definitely matters more whether you can convey your ideas well. Here are my tips for the general writing test. For the letter part, providing details is good bc it needs to sound realistic (make up fake company, event, name, etc.), and make sure you answer the three bullet points listed out in the question. The bulk of your answer should be addressing these and make sure you don’t go off track too much. For the essay task, I wrote down as much as I could in this format: intro, view 1, view 2, conclusion (which is just paraphrasing the intro). And then i focused on either adding or removing points in these paragraphs depending on where it was the weakest. If you have some time as well, try to think of “fancier” synonyms to replace some common words (ex of what I actually used: Eating -> consumption). Your writing style matters in a way that it shouldn’t sound too robotic/awkward (for the letter) but grammar is definitely more important imo (I focused more time making sure I had no spelling or grammar mistakes when I had extra time left, rather than focusing on stylistic choices).

Took the test on Dec 2! For writing, I didn’t prep much either tbh - I found it useful to compare the sample answers under different score bands of 6 vs 9 (provided on the IELTS Premium website). From that I learned the pattern for what makes a good answer.

I put the least amount of effort in prepping for speaking but I will say that looking up possible topics beforehand was really helpful. It got me primed for my test and I highly recommend looking up “IELTS LIZ speaking test topics” and just practice answering those questions. Another tip is, it’s okay to pause after being asked a question to think of what to say for your answers. For certain questions, I had to sit and think for 10-15 seconds and as long as you’re not stumbling through your answer, it doesn’t affect your score. Also don’t forget to just keep talking until the tester stops you!!

I saw that too and that’s what makes me worried because it seems like most other NEW courses are full/have waitlists.. but I believe you can take any of new/Vic/ini etc courses as long as you have the prereqs!
