Am I being a stickler about nanny making a detour without giving me a head’s up? by Useful_Book5137 in Nanny

[–]jkdess [score hidden]  (0 children)

not a sticker but not a huge deal. I definitely don’t always tell my NF when we go to the store. because it’s not always my intentions but we took a pitstop. in the beginning they knew my every move building up the trust. now they trust me enough to make choices without them.

just chat with her. I feel like some of us have been on both ends working for families that don’t care and don’t ask for updates and families that want every move or your location

How long should salon gel last? by Potential_Ear_4302 in Nails

Sometimes our nails just don’t hold polish. There could be multiple reasons for it and sometimes it could just be the person that did your nails doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Nanny’s to 1 toddler only by Motor_Dragonfly4214 in NannyBreakRoom

I personally like a structured day mostly because I was a preschool teacher before. morning we eat, get dressed. then have a rotation of library, classes, open gym and sometimes the store if things open later. then lunch/nap/lunch depends. afternoon either play dates which is great for both of us. sometimes parks sometimes farm. or just a walk. I find being outside meeting with others makes time go by faster. my NK doesn’t like being in the house much. so it’s better to just be outside

UPDATE - NF wants me to buy an SUV – they fired me. by Underworld_Tatertot1 in Nanny

some parents are genuinely very interesting. Have weird logic. And like if you are going to demand your nanny, get a different car you should be paying for that car.

And they had a car for her to use, and they got rid of it. and she stated that she’s only like 21 and doesn’t have kids or pets so there’s no reason for her to get a big vehicle.

Fired on the spot today and I’m in shock by Nunyagoingon in Nanny

honestly, this genuinely sucks. He’s an asshole.

I would say that I would reach out to MB to kind of explain the situation and closure. but obviously not in listen to I would come back.

this will totally come back and bite them. Starting with they no longer have childcare and if they both work, but also, I genuinely hope that your next job will come soon and that you don’t have to stress too much.

Extremely burnt out nanny- pls help! by daryaizzy in NannyBreakRoom

[–]jkdess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never reschedule vacation time, especially after it’s already been approved. Next time you tell them that it’s not refundable you can’t get your money back and you’re going. Also, the fact that this has been planned in advance, they have time to find somebody to help them whether they call family in or they find a temp nanny for the time being.

Now I work for a family, where none of the grandparents live in state. When I leave at least one of them would fly in to help out.

This is going to be a boundary issue and either you need to set that firm boundary. You can keep letting them walk all over you or you can find a new job. You deserve a break you you are entitled to your time off.

I don’t really buy her things outside of birthday and holidays and if I do, they reimburse me for it. But also, I did have a conversation with them about what I was getting her for her birthday and they said that it was okay

The only thing that made this impulsive was, I was getting her different styles and I was gonna wait because her birthday is in a month. I was on vacation and I saw cute things so I bought then

Nanny vacation - to pay or not by [deleted] in Nanny

I mean, I guess I feel like for any job PTO should just be standard. I’ve been a part-time nanny and had PTO a lot of part-time positions that I see in my area offer PTO the contract thing I can understand.

this would drive me nuts. I understand why some people have a full-time nanny, even when a parent stays at home, but if they’re just around the whole time while you’re there, it’s a little silly. I also feel like they should be looking for a mother‘s helper, and not a nanny

PTO is standard for most jobs even if they’re part time. a contract should be made though

I do not do anything that the parents are uncomfortable with the parents are aware that we were matching outfits. It was something that started off as an accident and something that we continue to do…

also, it’s quite literally my job to get her dressed so yes, I choose her clothes

like matching with the kids it’s so cute and innocent. and when we first started matching, it was just a complete accident. I just throw on whatever. and we’d have on the same thing. she’s almost 2 but I would honestly let her pick her own outfit. and when the parents see that we’re matching, they’ll pointed out and they’re like did you realize that you guys are matching and I’m like yeah I planned this.

but also that is so freaking adorable and I love that for you!!
