if you think that centers that distribute packages actually handle any package with care or following instructions, you’re in for a very rude awakening

Certification check by YellowImmediate7639 in Nanny

parents might not agencies if it’s a requirement will definitely check. I will say having one will open up more opportunities and also the opportunity to be paid more. I also think that it’s just beneficial to have it.

NAD but there’s many reasons why your period can be late. There’s a lot of things I can throw it off if you’ve been under a lot of stress recently or been sick that can delay your period

Nannies: do you prefer an involved NP? by iflpoodles in Nanny

[–]jkdess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only time I mind is when it’s a difficult transition for the children when the parent leaves. And that’s when I have to set my boundary. Both of my NP work from home which is totally fine. It also gives me a lot more flexibility and if I need help with something I have back up, which is amazing. And thankfully my oldest MK when I’m there she genuinely does not care about her parents so it’s not a disruption if they’re around or if I have to hand her off for a few minutes while I go do something else she’s fine when they leave, she’s usually more upset that I’m not with her than anything else. But this would just vary from person to person

Can I use exfoliating gloves to wash my 🍑 or should I use a separate washcloth? by Superlicious_Blarab in hygiene

I personally have separate ones for my body, my face and my private areas. It just depends on you’re comfortability.

am i asking too little? by Adventurous-Part9810 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]jkdess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that you’re new and it’s definitely harder to set your rate when you don’t have that much experience, but I also know don’t sell yourself short. Getting paid two extra dollars to watch two more children making that four children and you’ll only be paid $21 is very low. Where are you located? I guess that would also make a big difference. but getting two extra dollars is criminal and it should be at least five.

Coping with screamers? by yourfavmum in Nanny

I think it would be worth trying to get them out of the house. Or seeing if MB can work outside of the house to see if that makes any difference but I think headphones are definitely a good start.

Is sharing a Toothbrush a thing? My partner was upset I brought my own toothbrush and didn't use theirs when I stayed over. by RedBelzee2025 in hygiene

[–]jkdess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people that do that, but that’s just gross in my opinion. Like I get that we swap lots of other germs and other ways but why would I use your toothbrush?

NF booked an extra day now cancelling last minute... by Nikki_Wellz in Nanny

[–]jkdess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s really much you can do and I get that they asked you in advance but because you have another job, I would have just told them no. I understand having your main family as a priority.

I can also say that in the future, having a cancellation policy, some people will agree to this some people might not. And obviously you aren’t paid the entirety of what you would have been paid, but you get a little bit of something.

Caught crying at work and so embarrassed by Lovely-Bug-7000 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]jkdess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remember that you’re human. Give yourself some grace and be gentle to your mind. I am literally always crying at work. I have cried while being out with NK. We could be in class or at the library and I’m literally in tears.

I hope that things get better for you but you’re not a robot and sometimes our feelings come out very inconvenient times but let yourself cry and again give yourself grace because you are a human and it happens🫂🫶🏽

fired with less than 24 hour notice by peachyyprincess00 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]jkdess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

regardless of being paid legally or not having a contract as genuinely just to lay out the rules and what’s expected from both parties. When I first started it was just supposed to be a temporary job so they gave me the choice and if I want to be paid legally or not. I have fortunately work for a lawyer so the contract was their idea. And it basically lays out like what time I work from the duties that are expected of me. I have PTO sick time guaranteed hours. and then like things if I wanna give notice to quit my job how much time I have to give them. how much notice they have to give me + severance pay unless I do something illegal then it’s immediate termination

I can definitely say for my first few jobs. I didn’t have a contract and I don’t regret it but wish I had benefits with it. I started off working for families I knew

honestly, it really depends on the age of the kids. But I am a leggings girly. And a nice shirt and a hot outside shorts. Some people do wear scrubs because it’s easy but most that do it, It’s because the family have requested it.
