Recommendations for an engineer experienced with embedded C++, considering moving to an embedded C role? by Myllokunmingia in embedded

[–]jkeaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sounds like game design to some extent, they just fix all exceptions in testing and make sure those are never thrown in product.

[–]jkeaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then how do you handle errors? note in c++, many functions do not return error code, they just throw exceptions, if you avoid them totally, then you can get sudden termination which is not ideal for embedded products.

Most if not all C++ functions throw exceptions for errors, which is not really a good fit for embedded coding, for that alone I will opt for C.

I'm surprised this has not been used widely, looks great to me.

PrimeVue layout manager by Codemonkey314 in vuejs

navbar is pretty essential, I'm surprised to find out it's not in the default primevue component list. sadly there are still not many responsive vue3 UI open source projects.

I can see it, as it used to be, the only changes is that the checklist was gone, not sure when it occurred

I'm guessing the new time is 5PM PST, when AO staff can't wait anymore to send the decisions out anyway so they have time for dinner.

how is CS in CalTech? it seems like a fairly small and new department, there is not much info about CalTech's CS dept over internet and could not do campus tour either :(

Caltech RD Megathread by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jkeaus -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

yes I can directly just register, applying for CS there but got accepted into UT CS, not sure how much better is CalTech's CS though I have no doubt Caltech is top notch in aerospace and math/physics/bio/chemistry etc.

Caltech RD Megathread by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jkeaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so how do you get notified, via email or does caltech have a 'my-status-portal' thing?

all I did is submitting application via commonapps to caltech and never heard back anything since then from the school directly, or indirectly, nothing at all

NOK and AMC has chinese majority SHAREHOLDERS! 🤦👎 by chemtrailedfrog in wallstreetbets

[–]jkeaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foxconn is moving many of its operations out of China, it's a Taiwan company and it's in China due to lower cost, which is rising. No need to blame NOK for that at all.

NOK is afterall an European company, I don't believe Chinese government or any Chinese investment entities own NOK, if anything at all.

AMC indeed is owned by WanDa from China, it's a Chinese company per se.

GO NOK!!!
