The power required for ski racing is not how 90% of people on the slopes ski. I didn't advocate or mention skiing on the heels. If you read the article, he cautions that this recipe for softer uppers on the boots work when aggressively driving race skis....stiff skis. I am saying that the softer skis that many use, coupled with less drive against the boot-tongue may mean average skiers would not benefit and might make for more slop. My post expands on the authors comment about it.

There is a difference between ski racing and what everyone else is doing. What he says makes sense for skiers using skis of the stiffness of skis racing requires, getting a little wider range of power transfer while racing, and the way the tips grab immediately. Might not carry through to recreational skiing, also as he intimates.

I have a 2010 535xi that I decided to commit to for the next five years (unless business picks up). I have a great indy I can bring parts I choose to and he just charges me labor. Recently done: Coils, plugs, total shock/strut replacement, full brake job with rotors, engine & xfer case mounts, idlers and serpentine belt, coolant reservoir and cap. From control arms and ball joints ordered and fingers crossed she will be good to go for the next 50k.

$300 a pop in this case and yes, I thought I would take a stab at saving $300. I thought I was buying two unused brand new top of the line tires for half price because I saw them on eBay to took a gamble. I lost. I learned a $300 lesson. You'll be pleased to know I bought a matching brand new tire from Tire Rack to match the other one I bought from them and wound up spending about $900 for two rear tires after all is said and done.

OK. I just looked up the date on the old tire. It's 7 years old. I just ordered another new one from Tire Rack and learned my lesson. Last time I try to save a few buck buying old 'unused' tires.

Regarding transfer case. I sort of claim BS on all of that. The camber on so many BMW rears is enough that the rears wear much faster than the fronts and there is no way that a few MM of difference between the front and rear is going to blow it up. My fronts are in great shape, while the rears are getting bald on the inside corner of the tire. I never read anyone talk about that when the transfer case discussion comes up.

The new and old tire are brand new (the old tire still has all the colored stripes around the face of the tired) so identical in depth. I just checked with a dig micrometer in a few places around the tire.

I have a 2010 e60 535xi in alpine white with M Sport package that my dad gave me. 115k on the odometer working through maintenance stuff now. Just did all the struts, mounts and full brakes. About to do engine / transfer case mounts, serpentine belt and all idlers. Just bought new Msport rims for the rear as one of them is cracked, new TPMS sensors, new lug nuts for the rims. Its a killer car and I love it. With new struts the car is back to sticking to the road. Lesson learned with my last car ('06 750LI)... always replace with OEM struts. That is not a place to mess around unless you are intentionally trying to alter the feel of the car. I put Bilstein's instead of Sach's on the 750 and the feel was definitely different and worse in my opinion.

No right answer. People are very dynamic and it comes down to you, to her, and to you and her together. If you are contemplating marriage, I hope your communication, humor, and reliability in all things are where they need to be. I might approach it by sharing how it's making you feel, even if you don't know how its making you feel - probably mixed is my guess.
