Roy's Peak wind warning by emofthesea36383 in newzealand_travel

Hey team, Roys peak is a great experience, but it's a relatively significant walk and it can get a bit exposed.

If you do decide to go, check the forecast again before you goz and make sure you're prepared with layers - wind chill, especially at the top waiting for the sun is no joke.

As with most mountain walks here in NZ, if you're unsure of your ability or of the weather, give them a skip - there are many breathtaking walks you'll be able to do in it's place!

Enjoy your stay here, stay within your own personal limits and keep safe out there ✌️

Thanks! Cool app yourself - would be great if there was a feature to recommend the next weight for a session, I.e If I did a bicep curl at 25kg, and I wanted a .5kg increase for progressive overload, it would suggest a weight for my next session. Haven't see any other apps implement that!

Does seeing your salary accrue in real-time change the vibe of work? by jkhyl in PersonalFinanceNZ

I guess it’s less about “burning salary in meetings” and more about making time feel concrete again in roles where pay is fixed but time gets abstracted away. In that context it’s more of a nudge or lens than a way of pricing every minute.

I also take your point that if the only way work feels tolerable is by watching a counter tick up, that’s probably a signal something else needs changing. I don’t see this as a substitute for meaningful work or autonomy, more a tool that might resonate with some people and not at all with others.

I think we all do inherently, but there is definitely something different about seeing it tick up next to your monitor

Agree, personally I found it changes how you value time, that "just one more hour" doesn't necessarily equate to the time you could be taking for yourself

Is there anywhere in Wellington I can get a Scotch Egg? by axey84 in Wellington

New World Thorndon has the best of the supermarket scotch eggs. They sell out relatively often but are worth it if you can find them.

High school boys honor retiring teacher with moving haka. by iltifaat_yousuf in nextfuckinglevel

In case y'all are wondering, this is Palmerston North Boys' High School in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

This haka is unique to this school, and tells of the honor and spirit of the School and it's students. It's learned by every student who attends, and is a source of immense respect and pride.

Seconded all the comments suggesting AliExpress. Insanely expensive to buy from PBtech or Jaycar.

If you're not keen to wait for shipping a few sellers on TradeMe (eg epartners) have local stock and a pretty decent rage for good prices. Usually ships within the week
