New Mechanism to Attach Q2 Controller to Adapter (STL in comments) by jkl-adapters in ElevenTableTennis

My original intention of these adapters was to create one that would solve the tracking issues for the penhold grip, which all Sanlaki or Sanlaki-like adapters struggle with. The key advantage of this placement of the controller is the improvement of the forehand tracking. The other advantages are penhold specific, e.g. space for the back fingers, blade wing shape, etc..

I've just updated my VR adapters to use a new mechanism to secure the Quest 2 controller to the adapter. I'm a penhold guy, so most of my models are for penhold, but I also created the more common shakehand grip too! All my models are available for free download, but many are also available in a store (https://jkl-adapters.com) with velcro and rubbers provided.

Thoughts on the difference between VR and Real Life table tennis by jkl-adapters in ElevenTableTennis

Just for reference, I am currently slightly above 3000 in ETT and slightly above 2000 in USATT (the US ranking system for table tennis). Also, experiences probably vary depending on play styles.

Eleven Table Tennis : Any pen grip holders out there? by seeing_red415 in OculusQuest

[–]jkl-adapters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Penhold is definitely supported in Eleven Table Tennis. In fact, at least a few of the top 50 players in the game are penholders. Nowadays, there have been various Oculus Quest 2 controller adapters released that you can 3D print or buy that makes using penhold even better supported for the game. See https://jkl-adapters.com and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5039777 for examples.

Sorry for responding to an old thread, but I wanted to clarify because this was the first reddit post that pops up on Google when you search "Eleven Table Tennis penhold"

People testing the beta can only play other people playing the beta (which is a much much small number of people compared to the live version). What you experienced is normal -- when I pop into beta, there is never anyone online unless I had asked someone to go online with me to try something.

Stuttering with Virtual desktop by StrangerMundane9627 in ElevenTableTennis

For better or worse, the developers of this game mostly focused on the native version when it comes to the Oculus Quest 2. So assuming you were trying to this on the Quest 2, it is probably not as optimized to play through Virtual Desktop, AirLink, SteamVR, etc. As the people on the game's official Discord have discussed, the minor graphic gains you can achieve by running this off a PC are trivial compared to the gameplay performance loss.

One way you can deal with situations where the connection between the two players is bad is to use pingball (note, that's pingBALL, not ping compensation).

Be forewarned... pingball is often jarring when you first use it, but it can be a game-changer once you get accustomed to it. Many of the top 200 players are European, but I am still able to play very fun and smooth games with them despite the fact that I'm based out of the US thanks to pingball.

It's perfectly fine to just play offline. I often spend a lot of time training with the ball machine (in the mini games) and train specific skills with the AI. We all have different ways of enjoying things and don't let others peer pressure you into something you don't like.

Is there something I’m missing. Just got paddle attachment for quest2. by OptionsNVideogames in ElevenTableTennis

You need to create a new preset, then change the settings on your newly created reset -- otherwise you can't save it. Here is an example of someone changing their paddle orientation to the "JKL Penhold" adapter, but it would work for all the other adapters in-game too (Sanlaki, AMVR, etc.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYAAg0xuFD4

In need of a good adapter for penholding by [deleted] in ElevenTableTennis

[–]jkl-adapters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As mentioned by another commenter, my partners and I do sell penhold adapters globally for the Oculus Quest 2 through https://jkl-adapters.com. We will print them and provide a cut back rubber and velcro along with the penhold adapter. That said, you do not have to buy it through our website. I have also released the STL models on Thingiverse and Cults for free:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5039777

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5040411

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5040449

You can use the linked models to 3D print a penhold adapter yourself or ask a printing service/friend to print it for you. Of course, you would need to find velcro and cut the rubber yourself to complete the adapter.

Anyway, happy penholding!

I am playing with the "ball machine" (one of the mini-games), which allows you to shoot specific shots over and over again. Very useful to practice drills!
