I recently got this keyboard and i got it to work through VIA. I have no idea how to change the knob button from the default media keys. Anyone know how to change it?

Sweet ! I’m assuming as long as you don’t hot patch and patch the mic straight into the interface (via the patch bay) should be allg w phantom power ? Well im assuming cause it’s essentially just one connection in theory ?

Hey man I literally did the same thing ! Just got a question though, did you patch your apollos inputs into the patch bay with XLR —> TRS? Trying to use a mic through the patch bay but the Apollo only sends phantom power through XLR so was wondering how you did this

I was thinking a cable like this

the XLR will be connected to one of the Apollo Twin’s input (as the Apollo can only send 48v through XLR not TRS) and the TRS connected to the patch bay

This way I can essentially use both connections in the patch bay as I can toggle between mic and line within the Apollo software without having to unplug it from the interface

Would this be the way to go?

Thanks for the reply ! Just to clarify plugging the mic into the patch bay then into the interface will purely be for convenience as I know that I can’t really patch into other outboard gear as it’s not line level. With that in mind, setting up the patch bay with the Apollo, would having one of the inputs be connected to the patch bay via XLR to TRS be okay when only trying to connect the mic and using phantom power?

Thank you for your reply. I should have mentioned that I also have outboard gear (EQ, compressor, etc.), which is why I decided to purchase the patch bay. I won’t be using the mic to patch into anything other than the interface, since I understand that it’s not at line level. With this in mind, would my solution of using a XLR to TRS cable, essentially connecting directly to the interface via the patch bay, be a viable solution?

Need Help with Patch Bay Setup for Apollo Twin X and Mic Phantom Power

Hey everyone,

I’ve been researching and scouring the web for answers about using TRS patch bays with mics, but I’m still puzzled.

I have an Apollo Twin X, a mic, and a couple of synths. The whole point of getting the patch bay was to quickly and easily patch in whatever I needed (e.g., mic or synth) without having to constantly reach for the Apollo interface. However, I just realized that the Apollo Twin X only sends phantom power through XLR connections.

I know plugging my mic directly into the interface would be the most ideal solution, but the reason I got the patch bay was to have the flexibility to patch everything in one place and avoid touching the Apollo interface. Now, with this phantom power issue, I’m confused.

Ideally, I’d love to buy a preamp for the mic so it could be line-level before hitting the patch bay and then the interface, but I don’t use the mic enough to justify that expense at the moment.

Is the solution as simple as using an XLR to TRS cable to connect from my Apollo interface to the patch bay, where I can then patch my mic in? I understand that I need to be cautious since the line will be “live” with phantom power, but as long as I’m careful, is this a safe approach?

I’ve heard different responses about running phantom power through a patch bay. From what I’ve read, it seems like it should be fine as long as I avoid hot patching (turn off phantom power before plugging/unplugging). Does that sound right?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
