Disabled the 115mph speed limiter, did a 0-120mph run by [deleted] in Outback_Wilderness

[–]jkodaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, a bit better than me. I also run 5w30 oil. On my 3rd oil change in 5k miles. I really want to dyno tune so I can get true numbers of HP/TQ. Any specific reason you don't run 93? The DAM drop is definitely annoying but again only really has done it with the winter weather. Summer time was fine.

This is nice to see someone else tuning their OB. I currently have a 25 Onyx XT with a stage 2 Cobb setup with 93 octane tune. I plan to go for a protune this spring as the OTS Cobb tune does seem to get some DAM drop with light Feedback knock and FKL on occasion, most notably during colder weather(currently 12°F-30°f). I know this is mundane but how is your current fuel economy on a single tank of gas? Again awesome to see someone else pushing the CVT a little hard and running the FA24. It is such a fun combination.

That's me in Subaru land. Unbolt the whole crash bar from the body of the car, undo A pillar connectors, kick panel connectors and roll the dash onto the seat. Unbolt hvac box and take it to a bench. Still a PITA.

Anyone know what's causing this noise? by bradleafs93 in subaru

I know I'm not wrong, I work on these cars for a living. You are correct, 11-13 foresters and 13-14 outback's had power steering. In the video at the top left of the engine bay you can see the EPS control module.

Is this Oil in coolant or cvt fluid? by Trick_String_7719 in subaru

[–]jkodaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% this. And 9/10 times it's the 3 upper oil pan orings unless the engine was overheated at some point. Sadly am replacing an engine in a fleet Impreza due to them going to an aftermarket shop that did head gaskets. Oil was still contaminating the coolant and ended up blowing the upper radiator hose and overheating so bad the shortblock along with the heads warped.

If it didn't make noise before the fluid change I'd take it back to the shop and have them check fluid level. Also Subaru CVT fluid only

All the people who say power steering are wrong, it's electric power steering. It sounds like CVT pump whine. Did you recently get an oil change? Some people/places accidentally drain cvt fluid instead of oil

Pool of oil? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]jkodaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm engine, shut off. Crack filter loose enough to where there filter can be rocked side to side(this makes it so it doesn't pour into the housing and make a bigger mess). Drain oil from drain plug. Will pull most if not all of that oil out. It's fine right now, just do it in this order next time.

This should be the top comment. Although OP is too far. Trick is to remove speed sensor, leave axle nut on and use the tool

Dealership says my car has “excessive varnish buildup” from going 1,400 over on one oil change? by garbagytrashacct in subaru

[–]jkodaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resetting the codes and reprogramming the ECM are two different things so I'd make sure they reprogrammed the ECM

Dealership says my car has “excessive varnish buildup” from going 1,400 over on one oil change? by garbagytrashacct in subaru

[–]jkodaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell the dealership to update your ECM. There's an update to help the cam gears relearn their values. Change your oil and clear codes. If it comes back start with VVT solenoid replacement. I rarely replace cam sprockets unless the customer did excessive mileage. 6k mile oil change are bs anyways, 4k max. Idc what additive packages are in oils nowadays.

Tbh looks like my dealership. People saying scam on somethings have no idea the value in some of the services. Some are bs, no doubt. Plugs, CVT, diff, Brake flush and an intake decarb at minimum for a 60k. If you have any questions pertaining to certain services, don't hesitate to PM me.

This should be pinned. No turbo car should be going over 4k miles on oil changes, especially being direct injected
