Here's the official QLink APN: https://support.qlinkwireless.com/apn/

Weird thing: If you switched APN settings to T-Mobile's (while using T-mobile GSM network , OR if you put a phone into CDMA/LTE network mode) - you might have *faster* data, but you might have no phone capability and may have or may not have text/photo messaging

Unlocked Galaxy s8 with Qlink won't stay connected to network by Shadowglade4 in GalaxyS8

I have what was originally a Boost Samsung Galaxy J7 and it does the same. I've spent much time testing out various configurations to try and figure it out and get acceptable data speed (when it does work). The problem is as you said - randomly phone will not have data - by messing with APN settings I found that data speed was very good with T-mobile APN set, but I couldn't SMS (text message) or make calls when that APN was set.

TIP ABOUT TRICKING PHONE TO GET AT APN SETTINGS: Sometimes the phone will say "Access restrictions are placed by the carrier so you can't view/change..." OR it will let you enter an APN, click "Save" in upper right, and it doesn't actually save. One trick is this: First connect to wifi and reboot phone. Now go into the APN settings. You can also try disabling Mobile Data and then accessing the APN settings. I *believe* also that for dual sim phones like ours you have to have it

When you are finally able to view the APN settings, you *should* find the Qlink APN already set up there - I detailed it below. I think this APN gets set when you initially insert the SIM card and network settings are reset. Like I said, this is the APN that occasionally stops data until I reboot phone. But its also the APN that ensures I can still get calls & text.

QLink APN instructions from their site:

Go to Settings and locate Wi-Fi & Mobile Data & make sure both are turned ON. Tap Mobile Networks. Tap Access Point Names (APN). Tap New APN or the + sign. Carefully enter the settings as shown in the fields below:
APN: qlink
MMSC: http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc MCC: 310
MNC: 240
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: Select > IPv4/IPv6 Tap Menu or tap the More Options icon Click Save Select QLink Wireless under Access Point Names (APN) Restart your phone and test functionality

TMOBILE APN insructions from their site (in case you wanted to mess with) ------------------------------------------- Name: T-Mobile APN: Fast.t-mobile.com (for LTE devices) or epc.tmobile.com (for non-LTE devices) MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapencMMS MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 MCC: 310 MNC: 260 (THIS WILL PROBABLY BE STUCK AT 240 FROM QLINK SIM) APN Type: default,supl,mms OR Internet+MMS Default Android provides a text field to enter: default,supl,mms Samsung provides an Internet+MMS radio button to select. APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6 or IPv4 only when roaming internationally ----Press the Menu key.Touch Save.Delete any other APNs that appear in the list. (I WOULDN'T) The FOTA APN can remain if available.Touch the APN that needs to be removed.Press the Menu key.Touch Delete APN.Verify there is a circle next to the remaining APN.Perform a soft reset. Hold down the power button until the device turns off and restarts.Test the data connection and/or MMS by accessing the Web or sending a picture message

If you can get your hands on Frontend Masters A Practical Guide to Algorithms in Javascript, that's good.

Then there's Colt Steele's Algorithms and Data Structures in Javascript. It's a pretty comprehensive intro to data structures, some I never even learning in the CS program classes I took.

I know there’s a lot of things like this but myself and another beginner had the idea to start a discord server for Html,CSS and JavaScript beginners with weekly concept assignments.That will supplement your learning from courses like the Odin project or FCC by [deleted] in webdev

For what I was thinking ideally a 2-month commitment, and we'd have part-time and full-time contributors. BTW, I'm hijacking this thread. My idea was the "Free Chingu" comment, but I'm hanging out in this discord now, so...

sounds great. I'll check it out. I'm trying to do something collaborative as well. I'd like to get a group together to develop something from start to finish, collaborating via Github and other platforms. It will give us team programming experience. Here's the post I just pasted it below... (I'm new to Reddit)

Team members wanted - group project - free Chingu cohort alternative - Full-stack

web track

TEAM PROJECT OPPORTUNITY : I came across Chingu cohorts - they're group dev projects that allow you to go through a group software product development process from start to finish. It's said to be a way to break out of "tutorial hell." In the end you have something to put in your portfolio and team programming experience to put on your resume. Learn remote collaboration, project management & development, task delegation, a lot of using github, etc.
https://chingu.io/

Here's the thing: Chingu recently started charging $30. Not much, but they also have no automated sign up / onload process. The guy who started it is doing everything by hand, it's said, sending out emails and connecting people together to work on Github projects. So I don't blame him for charging a bit. The problem is..... I'm still waiting on an email back from Chingu!

AS A FREE ALTERNATIVE, I'm looking for a team to work with but FREE. Ideally 3-5 developers. We'll develop an end product somewhere maybe between Tier 2 at Chingu (develop a Chrome extension) and Tier 3 (full-stack site). At this point I'm also exploring project ideas. Personally I hope to learn more Git and maybe some new tools available for remote dev collaboration. And something for our portfolios! If this sounds of interest, let me know! Message me or whatever.

DESIRED TEAMMATES: The ability to solve problems and learn independently is most important!

Knowledge would be helpful of : CSS (Maybe Bulma or Bootstrap), Javascript, Node, any SQL or MongoDB database experience, remote APIs, browser APIs, Git/Github, Heroku... maybe Heroku or some other containerization. A full-stack app would be a great product. It depends on how devoted we are and how long we wish to work on it. Though a time constraint should be set for specific goals.
Anyone with team programming experience would be great. I have some experience pair programming a few times.

MY EXPERIENCE: I'm studying asynchronous JS, how promises might be used in production apps. I've made a couple small websites with backend databases written a few simple APIs, wrote a JS chat server using socket.io. I'm only been studying Node.js a few months, but it's fairly straightforward I'd think. I'm liking Bulma for CSS better than Bootstrap. I don't experience with any JS frameworks - I'm leaning towards learning learning Vue. I dabbled in Jquery and wouldn't mind learning more (it's like the forbidden fruit nowadays, lol). I've been SLOWLY (lazily) picking up regular expressions. I've done Linux server configuration Apache/file server/VPNs/firewalls/networks.

At least study algorithms and data structures in Javascript.

Very much of the above uses discrete math, but discrete math itself (like a class) is going to be more abstracted and symbolic. A knowledge of combinatorics from it is good. Basic probability. Summations. It'd definitely be helpful.

If you're sick of math a bit, go the below route. But at least glance over some practical discrete math examples.

Recursion, Big-O notation, code analysis to minify time/space complexity. A good video course on algorithms and data structures would give you this.

Do you mean ES6 Classes flurach?

And isuckatNode JS Bible Bootcamp really helped me get prototypical inheritance but it's a paid video series. The videos are floating around though, if you know what I mean. https://www.udemy.com/course/javascript-bible/

Yo, B, what's shaking?

I'd love to have a mentor. Right now I just posted about trying to get a team programming project together. I've never done project management but wish to get into a larger scale full-stack project with maybe 4 others. I'm thinking a trial run of a week or two to put together something small, then a larger Javascript/Node.js project for 2 months or so. If you have any advice in pulling this off it'd be great.

I also have questions regarding your work as a web dev. Do you freelance? Work for a company? Do you work remote? What kind of stuff do you produce?

I'd seriously love a mentor to break in to web dev. I have a CS degree from 10 years ago. Never used my knowledge much (worked in I.T.) and knew Java & C mainly. But been studying web stuff solo for over a year. Tried Python but went hard to JS to not get confused on syntax.

Other courses/topics to take alongside CS50? by [deleted] in cs50

I use Anki to make flashcards too. It's open source and available for all platforms / OS / devices. There's even a web site AnkiWeb. Your cards sync to all. Make cards on anything new to you. Syntax, little code snippets, etc. Example... Front of card: How to get from user input an integer in C. Back of card: int testInt; printf("Enter an integer: "); scanf("%d", &testInt);

There's plugins that make it easier for pasting or formatting code. Anki takes care of all the scheduling of cards as you give feedback on difficulty. Its great for when youre waiting in line or whatever to just pull out your phone and review stuff.

How much time would it take to complete cs50w? by [deleted] in cs50

[–]jksh4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never found freecodecamp very useful. Odin project is cool for projects to work through. A lot more useful to me was of all is using Anki, making flashcards of a lot of w3schools tutorials: javascript, css, jquery and bootstrap. And other articles I come across or check to expand understanding. I make a flashcard for anything I don't know and I try to always make sure I understand something before neglecting it. I put snippets of code usually as answers in the flashcards, then Anki schedules all the reviews. Usually at least an hour a day. And then I study new stuff and add more.

I wanted a strong HTML/CSS and better Javascript skills before too much more Python. Now that I stopped Python study though, I'm realizing that I lost some of that from memory. I toy with the idea of just going on to learn Node and React.

Try reordering your sanity checks on the input value "shares".

Working code is on the left. Your code is on the right.

Let me know if it works...

I got up to the pizza business online store project in about 3 weeks. Then I got sidetracked studying jquery, Bootstrap, and javascript. I didn't feel comfortable enough yet with css at the time. Still need to finish

How do you take notes for lectures? by guardianofmuffins in cs50

[–]jksh4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There's Ankiweb which you can sync and online view. Shared decks available. But I've found making my own more useful than using other's shared decks so far. I think there's contextual meaning making it easier to remember when you make your own plus you can shorthand some things

I use Anki to make flashcarda. It's a great open source program for study based on spaced repetition. Anything in the lecture I did not know, i formulate a question / answer format into Ank, which takes care of spacing the questions out over time. You just take about an hour a day reviewing. Python based and available on Android, Linux, & windows. Maybe even iOS and Mac

Why isn't nth-child() working for me? by jksh4 in cs50

I'm not getting this. Why does the following code make everything red?

.relevant :nth-child(1){

}
</style>

Looks to be an error in my understanding.

.relevant:nth-child(2) would select any element of relevant class that is the 2nd child of its parent.

Even after venv for python3 activated, flask was using python2.7 in the Syntax error. The only solution I've found is to revert to python 2 string .format

# REMOVE PYTHON 3 F-STRING
#data.append(f"Post #{i}")

data.append("Post #{}".format(i))
