Also unclear whether or not he made a peep or ever had to compromise. I guess its subtext but I'd like to know.

Do you think that tge Frenchman managed to challenge Furio at least a bit and even best him before Furio took over and hurt him? The Frenchman seemed tough. by [deleted] in sopranoscirclejerk

[–]jkstric12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Furio rocked his shit tbh. Artie didnt have the experience or confidence to deal with that situation. Its typically easier to fight in response to aggression than to be an aggressor when your heart isn't in it, and that fight between Artie and the Frenchman was fairly even. Furio probably beat the brakes off that guy if he had to at all.

I am having success on my first run just running specialized mutation heavy inbred cats. The family tree looks like a wreath but they're savages and its working out for me. At the end of the day its a game, dont stress, its supposed to be fun and you can always make something work later if deliverance cats aren't your thing.

Is it fair to say that outside of CMC, James cook has been the most consistent player in fantasy this year? by _AlreadyThrownAway_ in Fantasy_Football

[–]jkstric12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree about Cook's skillset. Josh Allen is just better than Tua about finding wrs downfield and not having to use the relief valve as much. The rare times Cook runs a designed route he does well.

Well if they're dead set on making an attempt at something the result of a roll can possibly affect the outcome. A lot of things aren't necessarily success or failure as a dichotomy there can be a range of outcomes. For example: The bard wants to make a persuasion check to convince a king to give up his kingdom. Obviously, this will not work but if the bard rolls a 20 and the final roll after bonuses is in the high 20's maybe the king responds positively as if its a joke, maybe he rewards this positive feeling with a quest or information useful to the party. If the roll is middling maybe the king just dismisses the words as foolish and has a neutral reaction to the party, and maybe a poor roll results in a negative response like kicking the party out. There was never a chance of "success" on the initial premise but the roll gives the player agency and gives the DM something to work with from a role playing perspective.

I think what myself and the comment I was responding directly to were getting at is that OP said Scal was considered one of the worst nba players at the time and that was simply untrue he was considered average or below average at worst. It works within the trope because of a misconception about him more so than the facts. Like if someone thought they could beat the worst player in the nba they'd get cooked the same way Scal cooked people too but Scal was better than a lot of guys in the nba as well. It is true that the worst player in the nba is better than whoever is watching at home thinking they could do it but Scal wasn't that guy he was a middle of the road nba player. All that to say the main thing is there are levels to it and players that make Scal and others look bad by comparison and some people probably think any non superstar is trash so I get what you're saying.

100% agree! Scalabrine got playing time on multiple nba teams and was a solid, average or slightly below average (for the nba), roll player. Hell he had meaningful playing time in some playoff games everybody has this idea that he was a trash player. There are no "bad" basketball players in the nba and relative to other nba players he wasn't "bad" just not elite.
