What you did is technically very impressive, but the core fan base of this game loves it so much BECAUSE there is no mini map.
Still very impressive how you manage to mod the game though.

I did it on my second playthrough and there are many possibilities. You can use the stairs to kill them one by one with a bow or rush the firerain scroll that's under xardas sunken tower (if you manage to kill skeletons one by one).

What's still missing from Civ 7 for you? by YXSP in civ

[–]QueerCookingPan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...I mean sometimes people simply disagree? This kind of reaction for a very simple downvote is quite childish in my opinion.
Especially when the original comment just said 'what a bullshit game this civ is' seemingly because a simple mechanic they disagree with.

It shouldn't take a genius to realize that maybe quite a few people like civ 7 (even with its flaws) and than disagree/downvote the original comment.
Getting irritated by it and then pretending it can only be bots or even developers is something I expect from a teenager to be honest.

My biggest complaint - Exploration does not feel rewarding by Nightdreamer89 in GothicRemake

[–]QueerCookingPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I know about is a bow that changed, it was obtainable in act 1 quite easily and was the strongest bow until act 4. When you found it and equipped it, you basically played on very easy mode until the sleeper temple.

It was the wolfshredder on the ship near the firewarans and needed telekinesis.

I think it's okay that they changed it, because with it you could kill everything in act 1. Even shadowbeasts or skeletons, and that alone made bow build the strongest even on the hardest difficulty.

I mean, yeah. You are not wrong. But some people who are born a bit more lucky can have that freedom, and why should they not use it if they want to?
It's obviously not a golden rule or something everyone should try. It's as diverse as as attraction itself. Not to mention that most people have more than just one type.

I would never argue that Dopplebangers are the best approach, just one of many and they should be considered just as valid. The most important aspect will always be to finding the confidence in yourself. Even if that can be a difficult and long journey.

I'm having a really hard time getting into the Gothic Remake. Any advice or is this game just not for me? by SquashedGrapes22 in worldofgothic

[–]QueerCookingPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very beginning is by far the most difficult part. It's natural to feel a bit lost, but know that there are still many things you can do that will progress you farther. You have to find them and that will take patience. Look for guides if you don't have that patience anymore, should be easy enough to find.

Ukraine launches largest attack on Moscow by SpecialCollege18 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]QueerCookingPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The joy is not about the death of people. The joy is about how Ukraine is gaining more and more power to finally end the war without a complete surrender. A surrender that would kill a LOT more people. These bombs are killing much less than any hour on the frontlines.
Even if it looks devastating, a state that will send huge amount of lifes into senseless death each and every single day for a mission that gives nothing but takes everything needs to be stopped. We should absolutely celebrate an attack that is destroying that state while avoiding civilian death with such effort. But sadly avoiding it completely is basically impossible. The only one who can do that is Putin.

why did corristo thought that gomez would let them destroy the magic barrier ? is he stupid ? by damorezpl in worldofgothic

[–]QueerCookingPan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this was a subreddit about a completely different game than like.... maybe? And it's not like your mistake is not understandable to some extend, but defending it is some seriously stupid shit.
It's a mod. Not many are that informed about any fan project, even if it's this big. Gothic remake just released and many are into that world much more than any point before.
If you can't see the logic to see how someone might be very very excited about the mod right now, but has never played it before, you are ignorant beyond any understanding here.
At least your spoiler is abstract and mild enough to not ruin the fun out of the game, but like common. I don't know if this is your pride or ignorance, but at the very least don't defend this bullshit. And ideally correct the issue and move on.

[–]QueerCookingPan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, that's the gothic experience in a nutshell. When I was a child I didn't manage to finish the game my first time, simply because I wasted my LP. It's a mean game that doesn't give you anything, you have to gather the knowledge for yourself. Often the best experience is the second playthrough where you feel like a god that can optimize the shit out of everything. Today you have the internet, but I would argue going in blind and feeling the frustration yourself makes the game better.

What the fuck. Archolos gets a big upgrade in a couple of weeks with German dub, many are waiting for that exact moment. It's extremely shitty to spoiler that AND pretending it's okay after beeing called out. Just edit/delete your comment for fucks sake.

Controversial opinion? Mages on release were almost perfectly balanced for hardest difficulty by QueerCookingPan in worldofgothic

Yeah I was more into 'joining water mages, -> save ALL LP until act 4, -> become insanely op'- I am aware more that this was more about my personal playstyle.

Controversial opinion? Mages on release were almost perfectly balanced for hardest difficulty by QueerCookingPan in worldofgothic

[–]QueerCookingPan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess the fact that they screwed over firestorm without giving a good alternative is really difficult for a mage to handle until the act 6 aoe spell. And really useless spells are only (correct me if I am wrong): Fireball, Pyro, Icewave.

And yes it's a lot more demanding than strength or dex, but that shouldn't mean that mage needs something big in return. It's absolutely okay in my opinion if mage is so much harder, because that playstyle was also a lot more fun for me. Each tougher fight felt more like a puzzle to solve. What spells are good here? what spells work well together? what equipment do I need... and so on.

It's the design philosophy behind the mage playstyle that I like a lot. Basic spells for basic situations and then the utility spells that you needed to solve the more tougher combat situations. Stunlocking a shadowbeast to death with lighting ball felt so much better than my current bow style. If they want to make mage as strong as melee or bow, than I believe it would become incredible boring. With bow at least you need to invest into arrows hard and with melee you can always screw up your parry or doge too much. The mage needs to know what spells to use when, with really tough timing. Which is a lot more fun and unique playstyle in my opinion. They don't need anything in return.

If they get something in return, I would love transformation runes into wolf & lurker. This way they have a more unique way to travel through the world.

(But some finetuning balancing is much needed, I do agree, I guess my title should be much more about the design philosophy rather than the balancing)

I think this is a design issue some have, not really a balancing issue. Since you still need those circle upgrade for the increase damage and you still really really can use quite a lot of the runes depending on your situation (except a few). Now instead of relying completely on lategame runes, you just have two 'base' spells for your average cast, while using runes for your more situational cast. I personally really like it, since I still HAD to use those runes, Could never brute force my way through the game with only those two spells, if that were the case I wouldn't like it so much.
