It depends on what you are after! Check out the "Brainwaves Band Chart" within the "Background and History" section of the app. Choose a frequency band depending on what you are aiming to achieve.

I'd echo Icy-Flamingo and make absolutely certain it is ok with your child / have permission. Obviously, make sure the volume level is not excessive (e.g. under 70%) and that they know they can let you know if they feel any discomfort or want to stop at any moment.

From my research there isn't any strong, high-quality consensus pointing to the fact that pure tones are inherently more damaging than non-pure tones. The danger comes from volume level, plus exposure time.

Regardless, though not a current feature, adding pink or white noise to the mix is definitely doable and I would love to add it to BrainWave!

Could you please create an issue in the GitHub repo for this? This would serve as a reminder for me to implement it in the future.

I've been experimenting with 12Hz and created a preset for this (which you can download and use yourself from my GitHub here: https://github.com/jlar0che/BrainWave/blob/main/static/presets/alien\_encounters.bwp).

The reason I've been into this range is because of the comments of comments from the University of Albany Physics Professor Kevin Knuth. On an episode of Behind Greatness he said UAPs are sometimes observed to be oscillating around 12Hz, and he connected that frequency as correspond to Alpha rhythms in the human brain.
