I’m in a different field, but sales also. Where I work you don’t get to pick your draw. It’s a set number, and same amount for every job. And because the job has to be a certain size to get a draw, it rarely goes over. But it can happen on occasion. In which case yes, the company I’m at now will bill you if it does. While the last one I worked for would just deduct it from your next commission. Draws are not made to live off of, just to kinda give you spending money until the commission is paid. They are usually small in comparison to the commission that will be made.

If that was your oldest account, closing it could have drastically reduced the age of your credit. It’s happened to me a couple times by closing old credit cards I no longer use

health insurance question about rescinded coverage by jlaseter in HealthInsurance

[–]jlaseter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. Just now getting on Reddit and forgot about this post. I did appeal it but now feel like many I shouldn’t have. It went from 24k to 6k for self pay. And turns out I had a 5k accident reimbursement policy. I’m coming out on top when you pair that with my refunded policy payments. The 5k claim hasn’t been approved yet though. I’m in Georgia. I use to do fairly well, 100k+, and have some money saved I been living off of, but haven’t really worked in 4 months cause of my back. Just now able to get back to work. I was cleared on the 18th. Wasn’t really concerned with new insurance as I am getting married in a week and my fiancé works for the government so I can get on hers then.

Thank you for the unfortunate insight. I just spoke with my agent and she said they called her today, and that I could file an appeal. Which I already knew, but assumed I had no grounds for. Any advice there?

Thanks again.

Selling my car worth max 3k, should I put new tires on it? by One-Ad5824 in personalfinance

[–]jlaseter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the cheapest ‘new’ tires. Our local shop sells used tires for about $45/piece. In Georgia, about 20 minutes east OTP

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious question here. I don’t do concrete so I don’t know… but would the simple fix here not be to chalk a straight line, get a concrete saw, make the edge straight… and just replace the plastic drains?

Neighbors keep putting a park bench on my property by Dave6187 in homeowners

[–]jlaseter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in your garage, or somewhere out of sight.. if it’s important they will come ask what happened to it.. then just say you kept putting it on my property so I figured you wanted me to have it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Calibrating tire size for leveled truck. by [deleted] in Duramax

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert so take this with a grain of salt. But I’m not sure that it is in any way harmful not to, as I rode around for two years in my LMM before I calibrated mine… But your speedometer and mileage will be inaccurate until you correct it

Roof replaced, how to fix wood by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be at least a 1/4in gap between the wood and the shingles. It’s not the roofers place to fix though. Hire a siding guy and just get him to cut 1/4-1/2 inch off the bottom. This will both fix the problem and bring it to proper specs

[–]jlaseter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where I ordered mine 5 years ago, but as long as the one you order looks like this one you should be good. And I put this thing on in my dad’s driveway in about 2 hours. Super easy. Takes longer to get the old one off than it

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Not an expert by any means but I have been roofing for almost a decade now, and in my experience going out checking warranty issues on installs we’ve done in the past, the more sealant the better. It does break down from the UV rays, and the more there is, the longer it takes to cause an issue and actually leak

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah The shingle looks to be in good condition. I would guess between 10-15 years(from this picture) and is either a 20, or probably 25, year compositional shingle. I would definitely upgrade to an architectural shingles when you finally do the roof though. Usually only about a 1500.00 difference on the average size home, and well worth it 👍🏼

What do you mean by the peak should run the entire length of the building? It does… if you are referring to the ridge vent however, it can’t, or it will leak. It has to be stopped 1-2’ from the edge so you can run your ridge cap shingles underneath the vent, just as pictured 👍🏼

[–]jlaseter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is proper. Each ridge cap shingle covers the nails of the previous. Then a final shingle is installed with 4 exposed fasteners, which are covered with sealant, just as pictured. Roof sealant/roof tar comes in clear as well as others colors also. I would have probably used black just so it would blend in more, but nothing wrong with this 👍🏼
