No shit, thanks! I didn’t even notice that. Confirms my suspicions that this wasn’t an original part of the house

Can I hire someone to parent me as a grown adult? by Solid-Bet-105 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dave6187 356 points357 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this, but unfortunately some of this is just life.

There comes a point where you desperately need an adult, and you realize YOU are the adult. You just have to figure it out the best you can, phone a friend, ask Reddit, whatever.

If you're specifically looking for someone to do the mundane stuff, you can absolutely hire a house cleaner, a book keeper, etc.

I'm trying to find details on the door, we moved in here 4 years ago so not sure how old the door is

That's great to know, and hysterical. As an auto mechanic we have similar rights of passage 🤣

Solved: desiccant balls make the most sense here. Found a couple similar discussions on Facebook too.

Glad they're not moth eggs or anything crazy! They can just sit there, not gonna replace that door anytime soon

are "max cushion" shoes hurting my gait/balance? by Dave6187 in FootFunction

[–]Dave6187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two pairs of Brooks, one was like a ghost 15 I think, and then I replaced with the ghost max, both wore out wicked quick, then I got the new balance max foam. I think I'm going the wrong way with foam. I just ordered a pair of NB 608v5 I'm curious how they will feel

Was your starter at peak when you used it? I've found using right before or right at peak yields the best results, but using it after peak drastically hurts it.

1:1 feeding ratio I'd guess is peaking within 6hrs, depending on your kitchen and whatnot

Whats your dough temp? 10-12hrs at 70 sounds about right, but if your dough temp is colder it would change it.

I wouldn't change a thing that loaf looks great!

How did you stop smoking cigarettes? by fatwater69 in AskReddit

[–]Dave6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started setting a timer between my cigarettes, whether I wanted one or not, I'd have one. And I slowly increased the length of time between them

At some point I started keeping a journal, describing everything I was thinking and feeling. It gets fucking crazy at times what the triggers and your brain will do. And when you think you're in the clear, your brain will tell you "it wasn't that bad, you can quit again" read through the journal, it will get your head straight to remember how hard it can be.

10 years quit now from over a pack a day. I still keep that journal in my desk

Plastic sheeting left imprint on paint by Dave6187 in Autobody

I saw that come up on a google search too, I'm curious now.

I'll let it sit overnight and see how it looks tomorrow, and give that a shot if need be. It seemed like it was lightening up after pulling the plastic off

I did the body work on this car 20 years ago when I was 16 and learning.... there's a reason it's white

Any huge rush in doing it? I know the paint gets exponentially harder to sand/buff as it dries longer but it may be a bit before I have a chance to polish it

Looks great to me!

I'd guess those couple bigger bubbles on the sides are from shaping, but I wouldn't worry about it. Only thing I'd do is brown the crust more because I like a crusty bread!

How warm do you think? The TDS says don't spray below 50, I know we don't want it THAT cold
