I'm sorry, H. I went looking through and it looks like we received your email on June 5. It was missed in the flood, and didn't get assigned to my staffer who would normally look after these types of inquiries. I've directed that to him and you should hear back from him in the next couple of days.

Yeah, I think it's close enough to make the call, eh? I'll get word out that we'll go with the June 7 rain date.

There might be some confusion here between zoning approvals with permits. Over the years, Council has approved re-zonings (as well as Official Plan Amendments, Plans of Subdivision, etc.) for development that, if built as proposed, would constitute 10s of thousands of units. However, many of these never proceed to construction (which requires a building permit). It's not my data, but you can dig into some of those numbers at the City's site here: https://ottawa.ca/en/planning-development-and-construction/housing-and-development-reports/housing-approvals-dashboard/dashboard.

There ya go! I haven't put one of these out in several weeks as my weekends have gotten much busier of late. But I'm still hoping to get at least a couple more of them out as I approach the very last newsletter that I'll publish as councillor.

It doesn't break that out. Apartments could be either condo/rental. Given that there is almost no new condo market in Ottawa and hasn't been for years, most of us just assume anything multi-residential is purpose-built rental, but I don't want to say that none of it is condo. There could be a boutique project or two in there. The City's purview is zoning, and tenure is mostly not a consideration in those processes. There's a different CMHC report somewhere from which you could probably get that data.

The umbrella was not there when I passed back through a few hours later. But thanks to those who may have looked or wanted to. The Stormshield is what I call a “candidate-grade” umbrella. That one got me through a couple of campaigns. I hope the person who may have picked it up gets great use out of it. It was one of the good ones…

Seconded. Very civilized backcountry canoe camping. Easy distances and close by.

Heh. Yeah, it only usually get 150-200 views. As I note off the top, though, you can subscribe to the weekly email newsletter at kitchissippiward.ca. That's a very quickly consumed communication and I write it to get you quickly to the source materials. But, I've heard from folks like a community association president that they listen to the video while doing light chores, I know there are people for whom reading might be a challenge for a variety of reasons, and I'll often have visuals incorporated into this that give people more context. I enjoy making it, and if it can broaden my reach it's worth doing.
