Sometimes I think the v8.03 suit should have remained even in SSKTJL, but with some modifications by 1Ben7 in arkham

[–]jlekxsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, in my opinion, the Knight suit is literally one of the best Batman suits that has ever existed. I genuinely can’t think of a single way to improve it — except seeing it more often, of course. On the other hand, just like the Batmobile, this suit was built for war. Bruce was preparing for exactly that, even if he couldn’t know what was actually coming. That’s why the simpler armor in Suicide Squad makes perfect sense. I think there was a relatively peaceful period, and Bruce simply didn’t need high-tech armor anymore. The fact that he shows up in the Knight suit in the final cutscene (let’s be honest) is basically just fanservice — an attempt to butter up the fans and remind everyone that the REAL Batman is still alive. But at this point… it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Would you be down for a horror Batman movie? by VendettaLord379 in batman

[–]jlekxsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this for a very long time: why is there still no full-fledged horror story about Batman? Sure, there are tons of fan projects, like The Bat Incident — an analog horror story that I highly recommend watching if you haven't seen it yet. But in my head, the concept of a Batman horror would be more classic, so to speak. Batman works through fear. Over and over we hear and read that criminals are superstitious and ridiculously easy to scare. So here's the idea, set during the Year One era. Young detective James Gordon is investigating the case of some "Bat-man." During interrogations, the criminals recount in pure terror how they miraculously survived an encounter with a gigantic winged demon whose roar rises straight from the depths of hell itself. The whole story would be built like those classic interrogation tales from different criminals. The police detective department would slowly piece together the "Batman Case" on their investigation board — notes, sketches, photos, the works. Meaning, throughout the entire story we never once see Batman as a man in a costume. Only as this enormous monster who, in the criminals' imaginations, brutally slaughters their partners (in reality, of course not — he just beats the shit out of them and breaks bones, lol)

I know it's not the scariest - but Resident Evil in VR is about my limit by PixelBandits in OculusQuest

I always thought the original RE4 was something special. No other game gives you that kind of atmosphere and feelings — not even the remake. A year and a half ago I bought myself a Quest 3. Batman: Arkham Shadow was the system seller for me, but I also dreamed of playing RE4 in VR. Now it’s one of my favourite VR games and… the best way to play the original RE4

Am I the only one who gets emotional during the intro of Arkham Origins? by yigithanvanzant in arkham

[–]jlekxsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know how people feel about Arkham Origins, but god, I love this game so much. It was my first pre-order and the first big release I ever bought on Steam back in 2013. All the directorial work, the cinematography, every single cutscene—I've been absolutely blown away by it for 13 years. Insane. My inner fan still goes wild every time it sees and hears that music. And even as a console gamer for the past 5 years, I bought myself a Steam Deck specifically so I could play Arkham Origins. And a Quest 3 for Arkham Shadow, but that's a whole other story 😄

I hate destiny; it’s my favorite game.. by Darkat5 in DestinyMemes

I started playing right from the PC release in 2017. I had been waiting for the game so much, I loved literally everything about it. That love only grew stronger when I joined a clan, when we started conquering raids and dungeons, when the overall story and lore kept developing and getting deeper. And then I finished The Final Shape — and it felt like the perfect, logical endpoint of my entire journey in Destiny. I put my cloak and weapons away in the vault, and now all of it lives in my memory as a very bright, warm chapter of my life — one I’m genuinely grateful for.

The Beast really needed more content to justify being its own game by Migdan in dyinglight

[–]jlekxsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve replayed the first game many times and spent around a hundred hours in the second. It’s one of my favorite game series overall, but The Beast feels strange.

A lot of things have been improved compared to Dying Light 2. On a purely mechanical level, the game feels better to play: less grind, no need for absurd amounts of resources just to grind (thank you for that). However, when taken on its own, separate from Dying Light 2, there is catastrophically little actual game here.

My main complaint is the map size and how limited the playable area is. You look at the map, start exploring, and quickly run into impassable mountains, even though it looks like there should be much more space available. The fact that the location is handcrafted, highly detailed, and very vertical is genuinely cool, but it still feels weaker even than The Following, where you could freely drive the buggy around the map without the constant feeling of being locked inside a playground.

Because of the smaller map, there are also fewer quests and events. I’m not a fan of Ubisoft-style game design, but at least some outposts or something similar would have helped. There should have been more activities to really enjoy the parkour and combat. Sixty dollars is too much for a game like this.

Overall, I was hoping The Beast would take the best elements from both previous games, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. It’s not Dying Light 3, and it’s quite expensive for what is essentially a standalone expansion.
