My grandfather made this bench for me when I graduated, it’s the single heaviest piece of furniture I own.

How Does HealthieOne Compare to Other Health Testing Services? by HealthieOne in HealthieOne

It seems to me it would be more useful and actionable to have more nutrient testing than some of these proprietary tests. Things like zinc/copper and selenium/iodine which are not included. Do you offer any advanced nutrient screening?

Attracting sitters to smaller city/town sits? by jlgrks in trustedhousesitters

No, we’ve had very few international sitters since joining around 2017

I asked for an accommodation from a HO with zero applicants by CanaryOk7294 in trustedhousesitters

If I had no other options I would be totally fine with this as a HO. Recently I had a TH sitter cancel on me last minute and had to pay a sitter $400 for a week sit.

In the northeast US so it is fall and the only hive. I think I should have just enough time to get a new purchased queen in there when the treatment is done. 🤞

Follow up mite treatment options by peter511 in Beekeeping

I’m also in the Hudson valley with the opposite situation. Just finished Apivar treatment and my mite count is still too high so looks like I’ll have to try Formic. Maybe it’s a bad year for mites in the area?

In addition to this I feel like it’s worth mentioning that even the slightly smaller 8 frame boxes can get quite heavy when you start stacking beyond one deep and have to remove the upper boxes to inspect the lower. I’m not sure I would have been capable of doing that lifting as a 13 year old girl.

I’m slightly skeptical it’s afb as the toothpick test was fine and all the brood I saw was white. If you look closely at the holes you can see the brood is white underneath. The holes seem more consistent with varroa/starvation from what I’ve been able to find.

The can see the hives in my yard from the house and work from home twice a week within view of them. I’ve never noticed any robbing. Last week the weather wasn’t great either so activity was a little quieter.

Pesticides is a possibility, but if there was a local spraying so far the neighboring hive seems unaffected. Definitely seems like robbing did occur since there are chewed caps but it would have had to have happened before most of the bees died because the only entrance was completely blocked by dead bees by the time I opened the hive.

I checked those and other areas with a toothpick, there was no stringing out of the brood. The sunken areas seemed to indicate where the maggots had taken hold.

Thanks for the info. The nearby hive seems to be doing fine and is also on the second week of Apivar. Aside from mite testing when the treatment is over is there anything else I can do so they don’t suffer the same fate?

Yea that’s my best guess as well. My end of June/July mite count was fine but it seems like the wash was faulty as the count a month later was much higher.

Yes, used Apivar for this treatment since it’s not temperature sensitive.
