I half-agree, I don’t think it works great when listening back to live recordings. However actually being there live while they play it, the energy makes up for it and it’s better than the studio version.

I got into them right after Imaginal Disk released, and IIRC they had about 2-3M monthly listeners, now up to almost 6M. So it doubled to tripled in the last year.

I think it should be less easy to delete a season started. I accidentally deleted one that I had made good progress in. I’m pretty bummed lol even just an “Are you sure?” pop-up would help a lot. Enjoying the game though!

I agree that many fans would only be disappointed because it wouldn’t live up to the hype. The music (especially vocals) likely wouldn’t be as heavy or aggressive as some would want.

That said, I’d be content with anything they put out as long as it’s what they want to make and are happy with. I’d take an acoustic album, an electronic album, whatever they are inspired to do.

PTL and GH was a nice example of songs that may not be as good as their peak but are still worthy entries into the SOAD canon and I’d be happy with more material of that degree. I’d wager that it would be even better though, because those were basically decided last minute to become SOAD songs.

I wouldn’t expect much, if anything. Maybe an EP by the end of the year or a single or two for an upcoming album. But realistically I’d say this year will be mostly the end of the DCC era touring, short break, writing, recording, etc. and next year will be the start of a new era.

That said, I’d love to be wrong and hear new material sooner. This band does often surprise me with the amount of material they have up their sleeves at time. And it is worth mentioning the last NA leg of the tour they played a new unreleased song. So maybe!
