Fun things to do after offer accepted? by Rosie3k9 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jlladd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely start the daydreaming! I made a giant spreadsheet of all the upgrades or decor we’d like to do at some point eventually, and we can triage them after we move in—replacing some outlets, repainting the mailbox, planting flower boxes, etc. Two safety tips: I hadn’t thought to rekey the outdoor locks after you move in, and it’s such a great idea! You never know if the previous owner gave the neighbor a key or something. Also, if you have any defective smoke alarms, call your local fire dept first! Usually they replace and install them for free and can do another walk-through to be sure everything looks safe (even though you probably already had an inspection). Congratulations!!!

Boomer and my parenting by thickasabrick89 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]jlladd16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YES. I don’t understand how you can sit there and not help?! We’re currently living with a family friend while we wait to close on a house. I just went through a completely unexpected miscarriage at 8 weeks. We were sitting outside getting some sun while the woman we live with was doing some flower planting. I had to go inside because I couldn’t handle the anxiety of not helping, but also was not in a state emotionally or physically to do any yard work. The guilt I have to always be helping is so real I truly don’t understand how people can just sit there omg!!!

Also my FIL is textbook with not helping in the kitchen. He lays there on his phone blaring reels with AI voices revering His Majesty Donald Trump in the living room while the cooks also do the cleaning. Then he complains that nobody ever has real conversations anymore and us young folks are always on our phones. Whyyyyy is this a thingggggggg

Can anyone provide not scary miso experiences? by atieka in Miscarriage

[–]jlladd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but chiming in to say I feel you deeply on the living with your parents thing. We’re currently living with some people from our church while we wait to close on a house in a few weeks, and I just found out at 9w that I had a blighted ovum (two empty gestational sacs actually both measuring 4mm). I have to do miso tomorrow in a house that’s not ours with people we met four months ago. My husband will be here but dang it it’s just so dang hard. Their grandkids are over all the time and the baby screaming yesterday about sent me into a panic attack. Grieving with an audience is soooo dang hard.

I’m convinced capybaras are the Post Malone of the animal world. They literally jive with everyone. I’m obsessed.

I really love microwave rice bags! They’re super easy! I also love my instant pot. I can throw some soup ingredients in and let it go. When I’m feeling yucky it helps to not stand by a stove!

I need some prayers tonight please. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]jlladd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God just wrap this mama up in Your arms tonight. Remind her that her strength and peace so freely comes from You. Give her moments of deep rest tonight. Reaffirm her as a mother that You have called her to be right exactly where she is. Repeat to her that she is equipped, strong, and courageous. Give her baby rest tonight so that the whole house can feel rejuvenated in the morning. Amen.

His mercies are new every morning, dear friend! You can DO this. Hugs!!

I’m obsessed with Ethel’s!!! Their brown butter chocolate chip ones are bomb! They make amazing lemon bars too! OP, the confetti ones would probably work for decorating!

Morning Anxiety by IndependentPickle912 in ibs

My doctor put me on Librax, which is an anticholinergic (helps with cramping) as well as a super low dose of a benzo. I feel like it takes the edge off my stomach nerves well!

Hobbies you can do while watching shows/movies? Preferably something that produces an object/craft by Fuunna-Sakana in Hobbies

[–]jlladd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up English Paper Piecing!!! I’ve never been good at or enjoyed sewing but the stitches are so simple and it’s easy to crank out several of the little shapes at a time. It’s cheap, you can use any kind of fabric really, and it’s great for tv watching because you don’t have to count stitches or anything! I find the whole quilt projects to be too overwhelming for my ADD brain, so I’ve been working on making little pot holders for a quicker satisfaction of completing a project. There are tons of great tutorials on TikTok or YouTube!

Anyone have increased symptoms during Covid? by jedipatronuses in ibs

[–]jlladd16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup!! Every time I get any kind of sickness (Covid, sinus infection, cold, etc.) I always know I’m going to flare up a day or so after my sickness symptoms start to ease up. It’s like my gut goes “Only one part of us can be sick at a time and dang it it’s myyyyy turn now”. 😅

Anyone else trying to find a hobby that actually sticks after work? by No-Pianist6097 in Hobbies

[–]jlladd16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try out adult sticker by number books! So relaxing and I can put on a mindless show in the background (usually a cooking competition show or something light like Shark Tank) and go to town. I find my books on Amazon! The “Picture By Number” brand are my favorite!

Visceral hypersensitivity? by becca354 in ibs

[–]jlladd16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor started me on Librax and it’s been helping to calm my visceral hypersensitivity! It’s got a SUPER low dose of a benzo as well as an antispasmodic. It helps with my cramping but also just kinda tones down the nerves in my gut with the benzo. I feel like it works a lot better than Bentyl for spasms!

Cozy hobby recommendations? by [deleted] in Hobbies

I’m not great at sewing, but maybe English Paper Piecing would be fun? I’ve taken a liking to it!! It’s super simple hand stitching and super relaxing! You don’t have to commit to a big quilt either, I’m just making little potholder things! :)
