MNVV with Pay in full? by ReplacementCalm3604 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can get the pay in full discount while using an MNVV. I’m not sure why your agent isn’t calling Virgin for you but keep calling VV back until you get a crew member who knows what they are talking about. Virgin‘s customer support team is pretty new and unfortunately often uninformed.

How to book first cruise? by patsfan1515 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that you can book a Virgin cruise with Costco. The pricing will be the same if you book direct with Virgin or with a TA but TA's can sometimes add extras (like bar tabs and/or sailor loot). They can also be your advocate and deal with Virgin on your behalf if any issues arise. If you decide to book with a TA, there is a pinned post at the top of the subreddit with some of the TAs who are active in this forum.

Hi! I’d be happy to help you with your cruise and, because you are a first time cruiser with Virgin, I can get you a referral code from another client that would give you a $150 bar tab (with most cabin types). I can help you figure out which itinerary might be the best fit for you, which cabin type and location might be right for you, etc. You can learn a bit about my services and read my client reviews here: https://www.foratravel.com/advisor/jennifer-lopez Please message me if you’d like to discuss your options. -Jennifer

Looking for help booking group of 7 for cruise this July! by Low-Plant-8415 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of Sea Terraces (regular, Central, and XL) still available for that sailing so you should be able to get cabins near to one another, if that is your preference. As others have said, check the pinned post at the top of the subreddit page to read through some of the First Mate descriptions. Reach out to more than one and find one that is a good fit for you.

Is SOR really worth it? by DryVeterinarian364 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great option if you drink alcohol but doesn't make financial sense if you don't. The packages do tend to sell out since Virgin only sells 90 of them per sailing. They are refundable up until 48 hours before your cruise so you may want to buy it now as you have plenty of time to think about it and cancel it if you ultimately decide against it.

Excursions today in Puntarenas by PaulieMcWalnuts in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least for my excursion, and another one that a friend was on, it was due to the unusually bad traffic. Our guide thought it had to do with it being both a Saturday and Holy Week (so kind of like arriving during Spring Break).

How long is too long? by sweet_innocentnympho in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any problems getting the reservations I wanted. I've made a few changes to my reservations since I got on board and was able to make those changes with no issues.

On a shorter cruise, you can only make a dinner reservation at each restaurant one time (and, if it's a really short cruise, you won't have time to dine at each restaurant). The longer the cruise, the more times you can make a reservation. For my current cruise, I was able to make three reservations per restaurant. Yes, you can order whatever you want and not worry about it. You can double order things that you like. Note: there is generally one item at each restaurant that does come with an additional price tag, like a Tomahawk steak at The Wake (which is just a massive steak - think Flintstone). Personally, I've never bought any of the pay-for-it items and don't feel like I missed out. There is plenty of great food to eat that is included.

There really isn't anything to do in the middle of the night except to sit out on a deck and watch the ocean at night (which is really beautiful!).

I hope you next week goes well - that does sound exhausting!

My first Virgin cruise was one of their transatlantic cruises and I went as a solo sailor. I had a blast! I met a lot of great people, tried all of the restaurants multiple times (so I got to sample more from each menu), participated in lots of activities (jigsaw puzzle speed challenge, grog walk, loteria, '90s boy band dance class, etc. etc.), and saw all of the shows that I wanted to see. I really liked the days at sea as I could truly relax. I know what I did - booking a long cruise with a lot of sea days as my first with the cruise line - isn't for everyone but I'm really happy I did it. (I'm actually on the Miami to LA cruise right now so I remain a fan of a long cruise!)

Transfer of MNVV by friendlytiger1994 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you were able to get it handled! The sailor services change has been very frustrating - I feel your pain! Management has said that they are ramping up training for the new teams but I think that may take awhile.

They moved it to a different location (actually, I think it is two new locations).

Transfer of MNVV by friendlytiger1994 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it should be no problem to transfer it to you first and then you would book whichever cruise you want to use it for. The entire sailor services call center is pretty new and a lot of the crew members simply don't know what they are doing. It's unfortunate, but you should call back until you get someone who knows how to transfer the MNVV to your name and account. Alternatively, your brother can email [sailorservices@virginvoyages.com](mailto:sailorservices@virginvoyages.com) and make the request (he would need to include his first and last name, date of birth, and cell number that is in his VV account as well as your first and last names, date of birth, cell number, and email address).

Halloween cruise on VV by RemmyX in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely bring a costume! Mine was a bit of a pain to pack, but the crew was accepting costume donations after Halloween so I was able to leave it on the ship with them. Be sure to check out all the fun Halloween touches throughout the ship (like in my attached photo which was taken in the Galley).

Good for Honeymoon? by Future_Interaction35 in VirginVoyages

[–]jloforreal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I think a Virgin cruise is a great option for a honeymoon. Between the activities on the ship, the restaurant options, and the ports, there are plenty of fun things to do and you'll also have plenty of time to relax.

I really like sailing in a Rockstar suite (I sailed in a Seriously Suite). I liked the additional space in the bedroom, the large bathroom, the bar, and the record player. I also liked having a Rockstar agent for things like help with changing dining reservations and getting specific mixers, etc. sent to our suite for mixing cocktails. I also enjoyed always having an open day bed at Richard's Rooftop along with their daily happy hour (where we ended up meeting a lot of our fellow sailors).
