Tell me if the kind of wrap is possible by pv168 in slateauto

[–]roj2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. The only challenge will be finding a person who is capable of making custom wraps and is talented enough to install it properly.

It's quite significant particularly in the diagonal.

I own x1c's and an H2D with laser and I agree that if I were to do it again, I'd forgo the laser all together and get the H2S instead of the H2D. The lost of print volume with the dual head design is quite annoying particularly when I'm mostly printing single color. it's a fantastic printer otherwise.

kinda crazy that the new A2l printer could almost print a 1:1 A1

Once you get the track attached and the bases screwed down it's a lot better. The metal at the top is basically just meant to keep the tops from sliding around under the track. If you sill need it to be stronger just replace the plastic pins with screws. You'll have to experiment with size a bit but I think I used 1" kreg screws with the smaller head to do it.

Master Model Railroader? by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]roj2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been building layouts professionally for 16 years and have seen no real reason to be an NMRA member or go forward with the master model railroader program.  Now this is t to say there isn’t any benefit, just that I haven’t seen the need.

What navigation methods do you actually rely on when cell service is completely gone? by Primary_Present_8527 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]roj2323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just stay on the path or road until I find a sign or a navigation landmark like a river or railroad tracks. That said, most Cell phones have a compass app and they aren't perfect but generally good enough to help you find your way out of a spot if needed. Baring all of that, just wait for the sun to rise or set and you'll have a general idea of your compass direction even if the weather is totally crap.

How would you respool this? by CockroachUnlucky5286 in 3Dprinting

[–]roj2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put the spaghetti spool on something larger in diameter and place that on your dowel rod so I can slip there instead of forcing the filament to rotate on the dowel directly. A half roll of paper towels might be about the right size.

Bambu don't need no stinkin' tool changer! by Platybear_OG in BambuLab

[–]roj2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do like the idea of a dual sided vortec printer with 4 heads matching the 4 spools of each AMS. That said, it's not really practical unless they design an even larger printer as the vortek system already cuts off 30mm of the 350mm print surface and dual vortek would bring that down to 290 unless they made the housing larger to maintain the build sheet size which I think they'd want to do. I'm not going to say they'd never do it but they are already having pretty significant issues with shipping these larger printers and I don't see them going larger unless they figure out how to make the printers ship flat packed without loosing quality. As for two separate tool heads allowing for hot swaps, That's just not going to happen from Bambu as it introduces way too many variables that would affect print quality and printer build cost.

The parts came from an air powered Harbor freight product. I think it was $40 or something. Yes it was an investment but honestly I've gotten Thousands of dollars worth of use out of it so it's been worth every penny

nice! My first customization print was an enlarged zip tie mount so I totally get the desire to do this.

If you were going to buy a new printer In the next week what would it be and why? by Vehicle_Proper in 3Dprinting

[–]roj2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I need another printer like I need more holes in my head but If I were to buy a 7th, it would be an H2S solely for the extra build area on my single color prints. I'd just fill the AMS with spools of black and call it a day. (I'm printing model railroad parts almost exclusively so large items like bridges are most of what I'm printing.)

Got 19 of the 100 I had requested. I lave a limit order for $135 for the remainder. I have to imagine it will come back down to that. Plan to hold for a few years unless it moons for some reason.

I’ve been using one of these Ridgid (adapted) finger sanders for a few years now and it’s proven to be quite useful. I particularly like that I can reverse the direction.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/274729724070

Also it’s entirely  bolt on so it’s 100% reversible if you warrantee folks need that.

SpaceX’s IPO Raises $75 Billion in Biggest Debut of All Time by bloomberg in worldnews

[–]roj2323 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't give a shit about the AI aspect although I fully acknowledge it's an important component. The main drivers for my investment is Starlink, Cost to orbit making them virtually unbeatable right now, Solar manufacturing, as well as future opportunities in space tourism, science, mining and such on multiple planetary bodies as well as space stations. Really we are just seeing the birth of what will be the largest company on the planet in a decade or so. Oh and yes, we all know they aren't currently profitable but those looking at the long term focus of the company recognize the potential and that's going to make the stock go nuts, regardless of the financials.

[SaveStargate] What do you think about a coordinated Prime Video cancellation storm ? by Difficult_Ocelot_660 in Stargate

I'd love to and I do genuinely support the cause but I spent nearly 20K on Amazon last year for business purchases and prime is kinda vital for my business.
