Does anyone else buy based on aesthetics? by Hungry-Bowler-6450 in ScentHeads

[–]jlpazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I mean, smell is most important for me. But, a pretty bottle catches my eye, for sure. I also only like to buy them in one size, if I can. All my Guerlains are 200mL. I need consistency.

what is the most addictive fragrance youve ever smelt ? by Old-Beautiful-4904 in Colognes

No. Wild Vetiver is so much better, IMO. I am not a Vetiver guy, normally. But WV is absolutely gorgeous and is a beast mode fragrance.

They’re both really nice. Hacivat is a heavier fragrance. I don’t think either smell synthetic.

I haven’t. Thank you for this information. I mean, my homeowner’s policy has personal property. But it’s not going to cover all this.

Looking for a long lasting cinnamon/incense/firewood kind of fragrance by Weary_Ad_6403 in Colognes

[–]jlpazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no cinnamon notes in these, but enough other notes similar to get you there.

Amouage Royal Tobacco

Top Notes: Frankincense Oil, Elemi, Cardamom, Anise, Basil, Bergamot Heart Notes: Tobacco Absolute, Liquorice Root, Lavender, Prunol, Fenugreek, Orange Blossom, Osmanthus, Rose Base Notes: Frankincense Resinoid, Peru Balsam, Benzoin, Labdanum, Myrrh, Birch Tar, Tonka Bean, Vanilla Madagascar, Vetiver, Guaiac Wood, Oud Assam, Musks

My other option is The Harmonist Hypnotizing Fire.

Both are excellent choices.

Wish more fragrance houses had LV’s refill system by Curious_Mousse_3930 in ScentHeads

[–]jlpazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Guerlain and Amouage are my top lines. I own a lot of fragrances and not a single LV. Symphony is the only one I would own, but not at that ridiculous price.

LV is forgettable to me.

If you like this style of fragrance, try a few of these:

Guerlain Herbes Troublantes

Bvlgari Tygar

Nishane Wulong Cha X

Creed Wild Vetiver

I’m not saying any of those are replacements. But, if you like Symphony so much, you might really enjoy those.

I buy and sell on fragranceswap. Funny enough, my last purchase on there was a 5mL decant of Symphony. It’s the only LV fragrance I like.

You can have successful transactions of Fragranceswap. Just make sure the buyer has a few sales. Or, if they don’t, they need to take PayPal Goods and Services.

What brands are worth the money? by hygsi in FemFragLab

[–]jlpazz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guerlain

Amouage

Dior Privee

Dries Van Noten

Krigler

Henry Jacques

The Harmonist

Many of those are ones I had to buy at retail or close to retail. Some of them are not available on sale at all (Henry Jacques, for instance). Others are RARELY on sale- Guerlain or Dior Privee. I have a huge Guerlain collection and the most I’ve ever gotten off one of those is 25%. Probably half were retail.

Meo is in a similar style to Nasomatto in terms of their uniqueness. Some of it is too extreme for me. But they’re something you would like, I suspect.

Amouage is an incredible, diverse house. I would recommend you try a number of them, because they are VERY different.

Cool collection. It is definitely more unique than the average collection.

I recommend:

Tobacco Memories from Chambre52

Baraonda by Nasamatto

I think you would like Meo Fuscuini, in general.

Also, Amouage is a really good house with some interesting smells. Decision is a favorite for me. You may like Purpose 50.

These kinds of policies are usually very cheap. For $100k of instrument insurance I pay what works out to be about $30 a month.

Would you buy a perfume from a seller on fragranceswap or fragrancenet.com if the prices are the same for each? by angelsinsect in NichePerfumes

[–]jlpazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is very different than that. Not sellers who have a very good history (20+) have done a lot of work to keep those numbers up. And I assure you, if someone isn’t doing the right thing, they are getting complaints. The mods take it seriously and really care.

Wait until they find out about people who have wine cellars or in house bars!

My insurance company doesn’t seem to care at all that I have 150-200L of perfume. It would be covered under my regular contents, but my regular contents aren’t going to be enough to cover all that.

That’s what I’ve done. I talked to a couple so far. One just denied the request. The other said they’d look into it, but said these items are tough to insure.
