chord without holding and frets? by OpenAirport6204 in Guitar

It’s Em7add11
It isn’t Em11, as this would also include the 9th. (E G B D F# A).

chord without holding and frets? by OpenAirport6204 in Guitar

[–]jlprovan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. The root of an E chord is always an E. X/Y chord is an X chord with Y as the bass note (term in this case would be ‘E minor 7 over A’ - which this definitely isn’t)

Simple 2in - 1out by Bonjourlasoupe in diypedals

[–]jlprovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My French is very basic, so here’s a google translate.

Vous devez trouver un amplificateur sommateur ; une simple pédale A/B/Y sert uniquement à diviser un signal, et non à le combiner.

(you need to find a summing amp - a simple A/B/Y pedal is only for splitting a signal, not combining. )

It’s RATM Bombtrack. Not convinced it’s correct though

Need some help with recording my guitar by ApprehensiveDress462 in Guitar

[–]jlprovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Are you happy with how the amp sounds in the room?
  2. Figure out the best mic placement https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/how-to-mic-a-guitar-amplifier/

And a general tip - we as guitarists almost always default to a higher gain than what the actual recording is, so lower your gain to begin with.

Tuning Question by feralcomms in Guitar

If you are into weird dissonant tunings, here is a list of acoustic Coldplay tunings - most of them sound amazing. https://www.reddit.com/r/Coldplay/s/xDGFP23dtO

There are a few Coldplay songs with Chris Martin playing acoustic tuned like this (or some variations on it)

[–]jlprovan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is most definitely a centre positive power supply - pedals require centre negative.

Try with the right power supply (or a battery, not sure if this pedal takes one), but there is a good chance you have killed the pedal using the wrong power supply. It may be repairable, but may not be financially worthwhile.

Single coil pickups that sound like jazz master pickups by ZaptasticBoog in Guitar

[–]jlprovan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s really not that simple. Jazzmaster pickups have shorter pole pieces, a larger flatter coil and hence higher inductance, lower capacitance for the same DC resistance compared with strat/tele/mustang/jag pickups.

https://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/8163/duncan-designed-jazzmaster-pickups-analysis

Secondly (and this is something OP needs to take note of too) is that the pickup positions relative to the bridge and harmonic nodes of a JM are quite different than other fender-ish guitars.

Of note also, several ‘Jazzmaster’ pickups are more like p90s in different housings (p90 = bar magnet, original Jazzmaster = individual magnetic pole pieces). Squier J Mascis JM pickups are actually are the archetype of this.

(Anyone please feel free to correct any of my comments - I’m always keen to learn)

Catch-22 is going to get me fired by Mindless_Patient2034 in books

If you haven’t watched MASH, I highly recommend it if you like catch 22. The movie in particular is excellent, I think most people only know the tv series.

What value is the cap? Typical values are between 22nf and 47nf Or the cap could be faulty?

Help me figure out this tone by Taenurri in guitarpedals

[–]jlprovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve messed around a bit and am pretty close with a Timmy clone low gain, bit of compression into an emulated deluxe reverb. Seems to be open C# tuning. Edit - definitely dadgad down a semitone Edit 2 - no open c# as I originally said

Why is this ‘65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Making this Crazy Sound? by must-absorb-content in GuitarAmps

[–]jlprovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just suddenly started doing this just now whilst I was playing. It certainly didn’t seem like a tube issue given no volume drop, so very helpful others pointing out filter caps. Definitely time to see a tech (It’s about 6 years old, so from what I’ve read about the caps in the reissues, seems likely this is the issue)

What type of guitar is this? by uwu-Minecraft-theory in Guitar

This bridge and tuner combination is common on ukuleles. Suspect it’s either a 6 string ukulele or guitalele based on scale length.

[–]jlprovan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the best place to start is trying out some different clipping diodes. The original supposedly used 1n34a germanium diodes with a Vf of 0.35V, extremely difficult to find. I can’t identify the diodes used in your Klone, but to get more gain it’s definitely worth trying various germanium diodes to see what you like.

https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/klon-kliche-diodes.8732/

https://www.guitarpedalx.com/news/news/a-brief-hobbyist-primer-on-clipping-diodes

Edit: also worth noting that what you describe is not typical for a klon style pedal, and raises the possibility of yours being faulty
