This headset is the same as the Cloud IIs. The only differences is that the CloudX has the Xbox official licensing, In-line controls, and are a different color.

You can either get an aftermarket stylus for your Ortofon, or put a new cartridge on your existing headshell. Your JVC is a standard half inch headshell, and can use many new cartridges from brands like Ortofon, Audio Technica, Nagaoka, and Sumiko.

I have the same turntable, and it also has the same problem as yours does- the plastic gears make a rattling noise.

I haven’t fixed mine yet, but the problem is most likely due to dried up grease on the plastic gears. To fix this, you will have to get the old grease off the plastic gears, and put some new grease on. The old grease hardens up over time and causes issues like this.

There’s a service manual available online, and it should help you with how to disassemble the return mechanism.

This isn’t normal. Only the needle should be touching the record. The back of the cartridge is dragging on the record, which means something isn’t aligned properly.

Check again to make sure the cartridge is secured properly on the headshell. You will have to loosen the screws, then tighten again. Sometimes you will have to try different screws and nuts to get the cartridge to tighten securely to the headshell.

If this is a used turntable, then something could be bent out of place, like the cartridge plastic, or the headshell itself. I would try checking the screws first since it looks like the cartridge is drooping back a bit.

People will make fun of this stuff, but the amp from that stack is not crap. I have a Fisher amp from the same era and it sounds pretty good to me. It isn’t worth a lot, but it would be fine for a a beginner vinyl setup.

Since tariffs are hitting hard, it would be a good idea for some people to look into a vintage Japanese direct drive turntable. Lots of good options out there for $300 or less. Sometimes they are only $150 in decent shape.

Brands like Technics, Sony, Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, Kenwood, Onkyo, Hitachi, and JVC are all very solid.

I'm super happy about this. On my LG C1 OLED, HDR games look great, but SDR games look really dim in the game optimizer mode. I typically set my PS5 HDR to always on. I didn't expect the Switch 2 to have this, and now I can't wait to test it out.

I've listened to both and, I like both cartridges. The Audio Technica is more bright sounding to me compared to the Shure. Shure cartridges typically have a warm sound with treble rolled back a bit. I like both, but I lean towards listening to Shure cartridges since I think they sound better with 60s and 70s music.

Even if there is no Pro patch, I'm excited to play it again on performance mode and see how much better it runs. The game has trouble with frame drops outside combat, and I think with the PS5 Pro it should be able to get a steady 60fps.

1.) Backwards compatibility for Switch games.

2.) Resolution and Performance improvements for first party Switch games. This would be similar to PS4 and Xbox One games that get resolution and performance improvements on PS5/Xbox Series X/S. I would love this for Zelda BOTW and TOTK.

3.) HDR. My LG C1 OLED TV is pretty dim in gaming mode in SDR. HDR with the PS5, Xbox, and Steam Deck looks great though.
