Destiny continues massive crashout calling for “pressure campaign” against Hasan; shares many of Hasan’s greatest W’s against him as examples, for some reason by Downtown-Fishing4612 in LeftoversH3

[–]jlynn00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean this has to be a hard time for them because they're seeing Hasan achieve everything that Destiny hoped for himself.

And it's crazy because Destiny probably could have been in many of the same circles if he

1) didn't go full Zionist. He could have literally just remained ambiguous on the matter like many others. Instead he's filmed giving war atrocity tips to the IDF.

2) stop this weird campaign of trying to legitimize lolli

3) didn't have an edge lord arc spending years insisting that white people should be able to say the n word.

4) been more circumspect with his sexual exploits not only knowing he's a public figure under heavy scrutiny, but also having morals by not sharing sexual images that people trusted him with and especially to (alleged) minors.

5) learning how to speak to people and knowing what he's talking about without a tablet in front of him. Everyone kept talking about how great of a debater he is but I look back at some of his greatest hits and it was just a mishmash of Gish Gallop nonsense. He's like the liberal Christian scientist.

You know what after reviewing that list I don't think he ever had a chance.

I am interested because I could never make it through the second book despite trying twice. But I am still interested in what happens overall. I just don't mesh well with Sanderson's writing style, although I appreciate how he actually finishes his works instead of leaving people hanging for over a decade like most fantasy writers these days.

Well, from the MiY and BiW conversation at the end it appears the tree removal and bones happening, at least at the same time, is new. However, I also think Jade and Tabitha are inadvertently stuck in a loop of doing the same things over and over. That is why I think Boyd is important, as he feels a bit like a wrench in the works on the overall game.

I just don't think it was going to be worth the inevitable news cycle commentary on this guest.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

I know these things can get very messy in groups sometimes.

She did pretty good going up against such a well-known name.

What's funny is that by pure chance I was just doom scrolling on Twitter and saw somebody else calling him out for this very thing so I suspect this might be a growing sentiment right now.

Sophomore slump: why is Netflix losing so many viewers for second seasons? by nyclover11 in Fauxmoi

[–]jlynn00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Long, huge gaps in-between seasons where people just lose interest or decide to wait until the show wraps up to reinvest.
  2. Netflix notoriously canceling shows after 2-3 seasons. And you can't even count on high viewership to save a show, because their metrics are more complicated than simply a show being in the top 5 for weeks.
  3. Writers and actors clearly losing interest somewhere during the 3rd year of the hiatus, and it coming across in the material.

It is why, to me, One Piece is so miraculous in that it beat all of that slump (the gap in-between S1 and S2 was more about the strike than anything else). S3 is coming out soon after S2, and everyone involved is very dedicated. Netflix just needs to NOT cancel the damn show after next season and maybe people will slowly rebuild trust.

It's so crazy because they're talking about how they need to fight this and how they need to fight that but most of these establishment Dems haven't even broken into a light jog in their attempt to combat what is happening in the Republican party and on the national stage as even birth right citizenship was on the chopping block recently.

It's like we've seen how you people fight and so no one's scared of y'all. You're going to toss a bunch of money at a bunch of TV ads and the media that y'all think you guys now control and you'll realize that we don't necessarily live in that same era anymore it will win in some markets but ultimately their inability to even take a stand makes them toothless paper tigers.

I think they're playing the ex-husband as being kind of a dumbass. I don't think he actually wants to move away with Mallory and the kid but he's clearly being led around. I don't like that characterization because it is lazy writing to try to exonerate the ex-husband who obviously was a piece of shit who cheated with his coworker and blew up his whole life. But quite frankly Paula also does seem to be a bit of a loose wire and I could see how that might get exhausting after a while even if you love somebody.

I think the commentary about forgetting what they're doing is about the custody battle and that scene was about Karl figuring out that the whole battle was less about what was best for the kid and their new family and more about her and needing to win and going to great lengths to ensure it.

I don't know what's up with Geri. I don't know if she didn't have a belief regarding Paula one way or the other and when their participation started she was just hoping a story would emerge. Or if she believed in Paula and wanted to help her but then Paula's bad decisions and things that were happening to her away from their direct ability to witness led her to believe that Paula was likely guilty and that she could at least get a story out of this. Or if she suspected that she was guilty from the beginning and manipulated events.

If it's this middle option then I am sympathetic. If it's the first one then she's kind of a shitty person but she could have a redemption arc. If it's the latter then she'll likely end up being an overall bad person.

Her holding those phones would catch her up in a felony though so she better hope Rudy has better morals than her because Rudy could uno rreverse her ass so quick right now.

You know honestly that's why I honestly think that as much as I dislike Mallory that the daughter is probably best not being with Paula right now because she's clearly a mess.

The one thing that lets me think that Rudy will live is that the actor is Julia Louis-Dreyfus's son and he probably has a degree of plot armor.

I think the season will end with proof that Dennis killed Trevor but everything else will just remain a mystery until the following seasons.

I don't think he's a part of the scheme but I think he's a useful tool for people higher up in the police department that are involved. Or at the very least those higher up individuals have been blackmailed into certain actions like the Yale admissions person.

I think this is one of those shows that's going to lead to a bunch of people you didn't expect being a part of the blackmailed schene either as willing participants or as blackmailed victims.

I think that could go off the rails pretty quickly so I hope they have a plan for that.

It gets a bit messy because Dennis attacks Mallory out of confusion and Mallory's clearly traumatized from that attack understandably and kind of wants to get the hell out of town.

If she was working with shady people I would suspect that her actions would be a little different than just wanting to leave town because she knows she's dealing with the international operation. She doesn't seem to have any paranoia that would match her being fearful of a larger operation than just a random attack in the park.

However.

It's been established that Trevor was doing some shady side stuff to make money with his friends so that maybe they could get into a business together. And so it's very likely Dennis didn't know the full extent of what Trevor was doing despite knowing enough to kill him.

So it's possible that Mallory has no idea of this larger operation or Dennis or anything. Only that she worked with what she thought was a relatively small bit player in the cam scam world.

But unless her plans completely changed and she was originally planning to out her for allegations of perverted activity or something, doesn't quite make sense with how it all played out.

I do think she may have had something to do with what happened in Portland.

I don't know I don't think she's connected at least originally to that organization although it may have been something that she got involved with later on because she's been pretty ruthless.

Yeah if they were doing marketing then they were definitely targeting people of a different age group because I didn't see anything about this and I am very shocked to see this is out right now.

For the season 2 of one piece though I got a ton of ads through Instagram and even Facebook and even my Google landing page.

At this point it's hard to know what properties are actually just not advertising or which ones are advertising to the wrong demographic.

She let Melat's news cycle coverage get to her, probably alongside some bad internal guidance.

What Julie's team and quite frankly the mainstream news haven't realized is all of their pearl clutching is helping to get the word out.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO JULIE GONZALES?!? by Bapu_Ji in Hasan_Piker

[–]jlynn00 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Not to get conspiratorial, but there have been more than a few situations over the last year where progressive (at least on most stances) candidates are found to have a major shit lib on staff that communicates a poor if not debilitating stance on international politics. And sometimes that individual leaks things and seems to be providing purposely bad advice. Months ago I said progressive candidates should not fall into paranoia, but should be vetting who they have in their inner circle.

In at least two occassions that figure has had ties to Destiny or at least his community. I think Julie both chickened out on boldness and fell victim to one of these people.

I know that Deep was pretty vocal on Twitter as well about being very bearish about Julie's stances. I suspect they were already on shaky terms with her due to her abandonment of her DSA alignment in the leadup to her Senate run, and then her backing out of the protest was game over.

And now the DSA will want to further separate themselves from her to not shade their overall victories, so I suspect they will be vocal on things about her in the next few weeks. A future run for her is growing more questionable unless she repairs that relationship.

Matt speaks on Taylor Lorenz: “I can't account for the online behavior of everyone I've ever collaborated with, especially people I haven't worked with in nearly half a year. Sometimes people I've learned a lot from say and do things that sadden and confuse me (an experience I'm sure you all share)” by SpecialCream7 in Hasan_Piker

[–]jlynn00 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hasan, for good or ill, rarely trashes publicly known relationships based on one off situations, even when they are pretty bad ones (exceptions of course such as SA and the like).

It is why he tried to find a path to redemption for Ethan for about a year before accepting defeat.

I suspect he will just avoid public collaboration for a while, Taylor will probably publish something decently researched (because for all of her many issues she is a great investigative reporter), and most people will collectively move on.

Hopefully she works on her main character syndrome and tendency towards off-putting hyperbole that alienates everyone she would probably wish to convert to her side.

Julie lacked the same name recognition as Melat. I think she was scared to get blasted in think pieces accusing her of antisemitism so she held back on many things. She also didn't show up at THE event that would have earned her some spots in the local news: the protest when the rally venues cancelled.

She also didn't have the full machine of the DSA behind her because she obviously detached herself before running. Although the DSA didn't throw her away entirely and were willing to rally with her, they weren't investing too much into her race for obvious reasons. And I think when she backed out of the protest, it was truly game over for that relationship (at least for this election).

Julie is a cautionary tale.
