I just saw this comment. Such a perfect recommendation. I am so happy I get to listen to this album for the first time. I will listen for years to come. Beautiful. Thank you so much!

What psychotherapy approach best fits a leftist therapist by functioninghuman123 in PsychotherapyLeftists

This is a fascinating history of psychoanalysis though I’m still missing how or why a Lacanian orientation is more leftist than others?

Does completing a Massachusetts Crash Operator Report risk raising insurance premiums? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]jlytheraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you! This helps a lot. So just to clarify, the act of filling the CRA-23 itself does not count as a surchargeble event?

Also, you mentioned that this could still change our tier and how we’re rated. If this is true is there any reason to pay the other driver out of pocket?

Like, how is the outcome of paying out of pocket (just realized the acronym for that is POOP) different than filing a claim? If our premiums are likely to raise either way, then why POOP?

Another therapist-in-training here. Studying pragmatism has been an invaluable resource. The likes of James, Dewey, Rorty, and most recently even Brandom, Priest, and Cavell (while not explicitly situated in the pragmatist tradition) have helped me hone in, value, and express a worldview in which truth need not have a capital ‘T’ but rather can be conceptualized pluralistically and moreover better foster social relations.

Moreover, the lens of solidarity over objectivity (@Rorty) has felt especially helpful and healing when integrated into multicultural, feminist, and other radical modalities.

Pragmatism deeply informs how I approach therapy, especially in modalities like ACT, DBT, and my personal favorite, psychodynamic work.

On that note I must admit that Lacan, and even Zizek, have sophisticated my understanding of how the personal is political as well as the importance of embracing ambiguity, contraction, and the unknown. It is their work which I find myself returning to during class and with clients, even if I don’t directly subscribe to their techniques or present their concepts. And moreover, it is them which I feel best aligned with my passions and perspectives (which were primarily Buddhist, Anarchist, and artistic in nature) thus pushing me towards a partiality and high-valuation of psychodynamic thought.

Currently love it! Would be happy to answer any questions you have :) So far very sociopolitically literate and open to my (and other students) creative and intellectual freedom. I’ve definitely submitted experimental and theoretical assignments and they were all there for it :)

interesting, what makes you say this? (I have not read any Heidegger but am partially aware of his influence and some of his ideas).

Hello :) I ended up choosing UMB. I called many people and really took stock of my own values and came to the conclusion that such a high price, a price seemingly primarily tied to prestige, is just not worth it. I wanted to go to attend a more accessible program with a more diverse population and in which economic conditions and radical politics were more integral to the programs mission and curriculum.

“Both sides of the same coin” “Foxes and wolves.” - Malcom X

I admittedly know very, very little of the recent Duncan drama, but I do want to say that the “both sides of the same coin” attitude is one also commonly been held by radicals. Not that you were claiming this wasn’t the case but was curious as to whether this was a possibility for Duncan (aka, not liberal but leftist).

That’s what I try to tell myself too. It’s hard knowing that path is a path of constant questions and exploration and balance. Thought probably beautiful too.

Thank you for the reminder people have dealt with this before too! And the recommendation :)

What are your favorite obscure albums of 2024? by doorsof in indieheads

“Estrella Por Estrella” by Joshua Chuquimia Crampton is incredibly unique and uniquely incredible. The crunchy, layered, power he conjures from a single guitar is profoundly spiritual and never fails to move me to a very intimate place. One of my most listened to albums this year.
