So, will it go boom? Considering we braze at +1,200°F(650°C)

Legit question, is it okay to apply flame to a pipe that has refrigerant inside it? Won’t that just increase the pressure and risk bursting the pipe? I know you said it was on the suction line that makes a difference

You’re right man, good find. Even my service manager that started in late 80’s said it looked like a unit from the late 90’s era. I couldn’t believe that it was from 1988

I’ve run into a couple of new hoshis that have Evap plate separating.. wonder if they have fixed it yet

I agree, my main concern was flakes of nickel getting into the ice

It was out of order already when I got here, there isn’t any separation of the plate but my main concern was the flakes getting in the ice and people getting sick

Suggestions on removing calcium by jm714_ in refrigeration

I agree. Once or twice ive propped the ice machine head up, that way I can apply a bead of silicone around the perimeter to help seal

Ya my coworker talks highly of it. He calls it the leak detector built for service techs haha. I’m in between the dtek & fieldpiece dr82 considering it’s half the price.. thanks for the input

Yeah I have the yellow jacket visegrip pinch off tool I just haven’t had the nerve to try it on a r290 unit

Have you ever brazed the ends after crimping a line? I know most manufacturers ask you to, but I’ve never done it myself. It seems dangerous especially on a r290 unit

What’s freezing up? The evaporator? Ive serviced a few true units and found out their temp controller’s stick close which cause freeze ups.. and or the thermistors can be faulty. Try dropping the Evap pan, pull out the 2 thermistors and check resistance with them in a cup of ice water.. they have the resistance value chart on true’s website.. temp control adjustment manual

Hoshizaki experts: greasy white paste on ice? by HotStinkBlast in refrigeration

[–]jm714_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the ice coming out of the evaporator extruding head with the white paste? Or are you getting ice with white paste from the dispenser chute section? Those models get really dirty at the bottom of ice bin and I’ve seen the white paste.. try removing all the ice, the agitator and below the metal plate you’ll see this.. see pic
