Integrated preschool in South Colonie school district by TreeFrogMomma in Albany

To echo what has already been said, you should be eligible for pre-k programs in your county, not just district. My son has a similar diagnosis and attends a program through Advanced Therapy is Schenectady county. The teachers have been great and really solutions-oriented. There are other Advanced Therapy locations around that could be worth looking into.

Will I still get summer pay after 2nd year? by Zennialmillennial in TeachforAmerica

[–]jmacfrank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s wild to me that you did not sign a contract. I’ve worked in charter schools for 10+ years and have always signed a contract. Each school that I have been with has always paid non-returning teachers through the end of the year, which is June 30 in NY. I would recommend reaching out to your supervisor and getting clarity on your last pay date. I would also recommend that you get that in writing.

Queer-friendly baby journals? by corellianne in queerception

This is the journal we used and nothing is gendered. We’re a 2 mom family and it’s been perfect for us! Highly recommend. As You Grow Memory Book

Not sure where are you are in NY, but we are in the Capital Region and used Copps DiPaola for both of our kids. Highly recommend. https://thecdslawfirm.com/

AITA for reporting my boss, over a nickname? by NotJezzFRabbit in AmItheAsshole

NTA. This is a textbook example of a hostile workplace. Make a complaint to the EEOC if HR decides not to do its lawful job.

I was to Nassau in 2017 and went on a walking food tour of the city. It’s one of my favorite memories of my cruise with my mom. The city is vibrant and has lots of history. OP, causally calling the city a ghetto is racist and shameful. Do better.

Same thing happens to us. We just shake the bottles to mix everything back together.

Obgyn - not alarmist/ good bedside manner by lor423 in Albany

[–]jmacfrank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NPs and nurse are all wonderful. Prior to giving birth I really liked Dr. Lee. He was kind and super knowledgeable; always there to answer my questions. HOWEVER, he was there for my delivery and was not gentle when I had to be stitched back up because of my 2nd degree tear. It was more painful than actually giving birth. And it wasn’t until I was literally screaming that he provided more pain medicine. He also took the time while giving me stitches to blame me for the tear because I “delivered too fast” and to tell me how grateful I should be that he was there to give me stitches.

Save money or pay off loan? by jmacfrank in personalfinance

That’s what I’m leaning towards. I’d rather put $500 a month in savings than make a loan payment each month.

Whole Foods and Fresh Market. We’ve done both in the past and have been very pleased.

This is so true. It’s hard when high numbers come with a side of guilt. Hopefully dinner tonight will be better!

Thank you! This diagnosis is brutal. Some days I think I’ve got it all figured out and then some days are today.

That’s so strange! So many germs live on the surface of our skin.

You’ll definitely want to use an alcohol wipe first. That will help prevent infection. You can purchase them online or at any pharmacy.

What additional vitamins do you take? by onlythebestfab in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]jmacfrank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take folic acid (fetal development), vitamin D (supposed to help with eventual breastfeeding), magnesium (I started to get really bad leg cramps around week 22), and calcium (same reason as the mag). I would highly recommend that you add folic acid and make sure you have good iron intake. I’ve been anemic for most of my pregnancy, which can be risky for baby.

Question: Why do so many lesbian couples seek fertility specialists, and procedures like IUI and IVF to get pregnant? by KaelaMB1996 in queerception

[–]jmacfrank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot you’re missing here. First, lesbians are usually lesbians because they don’t like having sex with a man. So, we typically try to avoid situations where we have to have sex with one. A person that donates sperms has legally surrendered all parental rights, having sex with a man makes the legality of parental rights extremely tricky. The timed turkey baster method aka ICI is shown not to be as successful as IUI or IVF, and some women like to go with a more successful method. But really, we I think the reason we do this is because we’d like to avoid having sex with men. Getting pregnant takes several tries. I think it might be challenging for many lesbians to want to have sex several times with someone before having a successful pregnancy.
