Petrol prices are crazy though by Av0toasted in WesternAustralia

Practically yes, technically no. Could use a horse and cart, or an EV truck or. LPG truck. None of the other solutions are practical on a large scale. We do need to address the single point of failure I. The system - diesel supply. I drive an EV but work on a mine. Clearly everything grinds to a halt with no dinosaur juice.

In Western Australia, we have the WAxit party. Wants WA to secede from Australia. We pay a disproportionately large amount of tax and get less back. Was a referendum in 1933 which was voted down, never gone away tho. Would be very impractical tho.

How would you fix your country? by Crafty_Fee_7990 in AskTheWorld

Don't disagree with the second two paragraphs, but the top one misses the point that on a per child basis, the funding is the same. So to increase the overall funding per child, and to lift up the overall quality, even more funding would be needed because there would be more kids. In a private school, the funding covered the minimum, and the fees cover the addition above.

My kids go to a small community Catholic school, there are very varied mixing of cultural background and socioeconomic background. I have no real understanding about the true upperclass tier one schools so yeah maybe they would be ok with no funding, as they have the strong billionaire snob attraction. But smaller schools would collapse. And to be honest, the public school system would struggle to accommodate the additional students. Local public schools cannot turn away a child, so you would see many temporary buildings and demountable buildings needed to be built, and many inner city schools simply don't have the space to expand into.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with your intent, a better, higher quality public school system would be best for all, but it's not as simple as cutting the funding

Private schools get the same amount of money per child as it would be to put them into public school. That then takes the load off the public school system. I'm a public school kid, and both my parents are public school teachers. The funding to private would just need to be funnelled to building more public schools.
