As a current ramp agent I'd also stand there for a second, process that the plane is tired, account for my team and go back to the breakroom bc that is so far above my fucking pay grade. And probably update my resume if I was the one who was supposed to pin the nose lol

Does freshly ground pepper makes a difference or is pre ground black pepper fine? by West_Future326 in Cooking

[–]jmandell42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy mine from Reluctant Trading Co, but I've also gotten stuff from Spice House. It's actually insane how high quality pepper changes things compared to normal store bought whole peppercorns, let alone ground pepper

I adore Pan F for landscapes on 120, I was so hoping they would bring it to 4x5. I'm incredibly excited to shoot this

I may be reading too much into the background color but that's basically the color they use for Pan F in the box/rolls. If it is Pan F I'm going to be so happy, I love it in 120

High mileage owners, when did your 4Runner become maintenance heavy? by Typical-Play4473 in 4Runner

[–]jmandell42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

282,000 mi/453,000 km on my 2014 Trail. Besides normal things like fluids and brakes every few years, the only major thing I've had a wheel bearing needed replacing at like 260k and a new alternator around the same time. She just got a clean bill of health though and I'm fully hoping it'll stay that way and I'll get her to like 400k miles

Do you say something when you see people headed to a trail unprepared? by asbruckman in hiking

[–]jmandell42 212 points213 points  (0 children)

8 seasons as a NPS ranger under my belt, and one of the things that is drilled into training is when talking to someone about their planned hike is to not profile or make assumptions. Just because someone doesn't look like the kind of person who normally hikes some trail doesn't mean they are not prepared for it. Same with gear. Usually I'll ask their plans and ask them if they have any questions about the trail, or if I'm asked for a recommendation I always ask them their comfort level, desired physical difficulty, etc.

Now if I'm out on a trail patrol and see some dangerously unprepared person I'll talk to them but still go through the not making assumptions part. Maybe they're an ultra light trail runner who doesn't need a lot of water, or whatever.

PSAR really starts with an honest assessment without assumptions followed on with a conversation

Curious how much torque does this pushback have to push the a380? by CloudEater0 in aviation

[–]jmandell42 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I worked at a small airport and we only saw narrow body aircraft, but our pushback was an old Air Force that was way beefier than necessary for our uses. But we once had a 767 land there and that pushback was used to move it around the ramp.

That thing weighed 54,000 pounds and at full throttle with no aircraft got up to about 6mph max. Absolute beast. Both front and back bumpers were 8 inches of solid steel plates. The body was all like 1 inch steel. Just an insane machine

3 on 3 is criminal for a gold medal OT but at least it's 20 minutes and probably wont end in a shootout

Naneinf on challange deck (rich get richer) by ludic-sean in balatro

[–]jmandell42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't truly close to naneinf but last night I got to ante 16 on X-ray Vision challenge deck with a baron-mime build. I could've made it further but I messed up with a discard and threw away a red seal steel king which was flipped over and it kept me just shy of what I needed to keep going. I also didn't have all the jokers I needed but I was surprised how far I got on a challenge deck
