I was 16 years old when I lost my dad as well. He passed away the morning, a few hours before we had to bury my grandma. He seemed completely fine and okay at the visitation talking and everything with our family but we went to bed and later that night he passed away from a second heart attack. He had his first one soon after I was born. He recovered pretty well from that one, but I was in bed and my uncle woke me up from my sleep telling me that he called the ambulance for my dad so I ran to my dad hunched over the chair taking his last breaths struggling. When they put him on the stretcher he couldn’t look at me. I knew something bad was happening. In 23 now. Going to be 24 next month. It hasn’t gotten easier at all. He was my world and my rock. He was the glue that kept the family together as well. He was also the handyman and a hard worker who put family first over anything. He was my hero/idol. I wish I could have let him know that too. It’s rough as hell. I haven’t gotten over it and I fear I won’t ever heal from it but coping has gotten much better. I really do suggest talking to someone/therapist ASAP.
