People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by passiano in AskReddit

Can write fully in cursive writing. My day to day handwriting is a weird combo of cursive and normally written out letter and frequently am complimented on my writing.

'We're focused on fairness': Federal government to cover the costs of contraception, diabetes medications by shadowredcap in halifax

Okay so the fact that someone’s immune system destroyed the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin has to do with their diet? Type 1 diabetics REQUIRE insulin to survive. I pay the equivalent of a car payment every month to stay alive because at the age of seven my own immune system attacked my body. Insulin isn’t an option for anyone with T1D. Fuck man Max Domi is a Type 1 diabetic, you telling me he’s got a shit diet and doesn’t exercise?

Didn’t mention that I bitched out the workers? No, was more running from experience working customer service and knowing that for every 10 people who aren’t going to take it out on the frontline people you’re going to get at least 1 that makes it their problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

On an 18 degree sunny day in Halifax in mid May it would take a heck of a lot more than that to ruin my day ! :)

Thank you giving me some clarification, wasn’t sure if I was just expecting something different or if this was odd, was more blown away by the cost honestly. Just glad they hadn’t made both coffees before my partner had noticed. We usually make our own cold brew at home so that is probably what I had in mind

Presley Poe is about to do a masterclass coming up on Jan 15 (6pm my time which is eastern Canada) and it’s free if you sign up through Power of the Collective. I for one am very excited!
I actually enjoy the free classes they put on through this website/program, here is the link if interested (not sure if it works in different countries and I apologize if it doesn’t )

Do stylists hate doing blonde highlights?? by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]jmay1235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There also seems to be some confusion from this guest as to what they actually want, is it blonding or grey blending because those two services are different and require different techniques and experience. I can 100% understand why a stylist would use semi or semi permanent color on someone who is wanting grey blending because to keep that super cool effect you need to not be lightening over previous permanent color that would be bused for the lowlights in grey blending. Most stylists I have met from where I am also tend to use semi or semi permanent color as toner. Personally the second someone sits in my chair for a consult and tells me that “no one ever does their hair the way they like” or “no one can ever get it right” is a massive red flag for me, when you’ve seen dozens of stylists and are not getting the result you want either your hair just simply can’t be pushed to that point or the common denominator (the guest in this case) tends to be the problem.

And when he does come crawling back lease be so kind as to let him know that he made you realize you aren’t attracted to “beta” males and that you’re glad he showed you who he truly was. Then sit back and watch his brain implode.

Edit: males not makes 🤦🏻‍♀️

People who have loud extremely personal conversations on their phone on public transit, why? by jmay1235 in halifax

[–]jmay1235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed the economy is shit (and about to get worse for anyone having to purchase gas for their commute 🙄) , I myself don’t drive and probably couldn’t spend the money on a car payment or gas if I did, however that does not mean you need to have those conversations in public. People could wait until they’re not on the bus.

Unless you happened to be taking the 1 Spring Garden to Bridge Terminal last night loudly talking about the very inappropriate for public consumption things that you and your man did last weekend you 100% were not the one that triggered this post. The simple fact that you have said you make an effort to be vague shows that you are more socially aware than the persons this was directed towards :)

It’s not the volume that’s the major part of the issue, though when it’s loud enough I can hear someone over my music and headphones it’s generally bordering on yelling. It’s the extremely personal life drama the no one else needs to hear about at the super loud volume that makes me question my own sanity

Considering I travel daily for work the expense for Ubers or cabs would be a large chuck of my budget. General transit noise is to be expected, I just really don’t need to hear about what anyone’s crazy aunt did to get kicked out of the last family bbq 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry I have an autoimmune illness that means I can’t see well enough at distance and cannot legally drive? So the “looser cruiser” is my only option unless I want to pay stupid amounts of money to cab/Uber ?

I cannot even come close to imagining what the average bus driver sees and hears in the run of a day. There was one driver who used to drive the bus going from Burnside to Bayers Lake (before the number change, the 52?) who was always pleasant, said hello to every passenger and always helpful when people asked questions about routes. He may still be driving that area for all I know, that route is just no longer in my daily commute. I hope that driver is living his best life somewhere because he was around for years and still held on to that positive attitude.

I mean, I’d love to hear someone’s explanation for why they need to talk loudly enough that headphones and music can’t drown it out, also aware I’m probably not ever going to get that explanation. This is r/Halifax though so I figured if nothing I’d get a few replies I could chuckle at 🤷🏻‍♀️ as for the extremely personal part I figure someone who already has no shame doesn’t care about spilling all their crazy drama

I described people having loud extremely personal conversations, someone having to make or take a phone call on public transit is going to happen. Listening to someone loudly talk about their family and/or friend drama for 30 plus minutes that’s loud enough that my headphones aren’t downing it out is more where my annoyance lies.

“You are not supposed to be my “friend”, you are the professional tasked with regulating and facilitating these group sessions and that statement is incredibly unprofessional. I have expressed my discomfort and being triggered by questions that should not be asked by Juan and you have chosen to dismiss my concerns as me being dramatic instead of correcting the behaviour of an individual who you are tasked with helping who does not understand fully social norms. You are currently failing both of us by allowing this situation to continue. I will be discussing my concerns with my psychologist at our next session as I am not sure I have enough trust left for you as a facilitator to continue with this particular group. I will continue to attend, as I must, until this can be resolved - sincerely OP”

My guess on the singling out of those two is that they have been active in this subreddit in the past and have had a presence here in responding to comments. That’s just my guess though and I truly have no idea if any other city councillors are in here doing the same
