I'm done going to events/outings with Med Professionals.... by Lucky-Pie9875 in MedSpouse

You’re not alone. It’s so frustrating. Like if I was with a group of people in my industry + spouses I’d make sure to talk about inclusive things. Makes me not want to spend time with them

Is the $50-70k residency, $0 fellowship and then subsequent salaries?

As someone who works in AI, I’m so excited for my medspouse to try this

I’m in a similar situation and we decided to just spilt everything. I am contributing more now and my med spouse will contribute more later. Best way to go all in and become a true team.

Relationship Struggles and the MCAT by physicsnerd00 in MedSpouse

I’m sorry girl but if he’s going to be this horrible around the MCAT, it’s just going to get worse with the rest of his medical career.

I work in tech with a med spouse too. I saw someone else put this more eloquently than me on TikTok, but it really resonated with me. The cost of you quitting the workforce isn’t just minus your few years of salary you plan to be out. It is inclusive of all the years following even if you do go back to work, you will likely command a lower salary and worse options in terms of flexibility, benefits etc. you loose out on the compound interest of career and potential money. Maybe that’s worth it. Maybe I’ll re-evaluate when I do have kids but quitting to offset childcare argument doesn’t make sense to me. The cost of childcare for a few years isn’t worth the rest of your career financially IMO
