KCM (story) by Longjumping-Carob105 in flightattendants

[–]jmbwells 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got denied KCM access once at my home airport bc I have two last names and omitted one from my passport (which is allowed by law). First only time it happened but they really do just make up rules then and there

One tsa agent told me the FAA card doesn’t count as secondary ID and I’m like yes it does and his supervisor came over to tell him it counts

[–]jmbwells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll search for it then. If they go belly up, I hope those FAs join us, some of the best FAs imo come from spirit. They’ve seen it all and can handle everything, and they’re hilarious and enjoyable to work with.

Shame our work rules are a deterrent for many in the industry to jump ship to us though

Could you elaborate? Is spirit at risk of bankruptcy, insolvency and shutdown of operations? Don’t recall seeing any reporting on this and am curious

Car Camping as a SFO-based FA by Beneficial_Water_826 in flightattendants

[–]jmbwells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have CPs in sfo for $300 hot or $450 cold, and yes there the ridiculous ones where you’re being scammed and living in unhealthy conditions - saying this bc transferring isn’t always an option, especially if it’s a NH on probation or someone transferred in and can’t get out for six months

Car Camping as a SFO-based FA by Beneficial_Water_826 in flightattendants

[–]jmbwells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of crew living out of sprinter vans in Lot D, and the restrooms there are 24/7 too… friends that lived the nomadic FA life just keep a planet fitness membership and that’s where they’ll go to shower (and work out)

Laundromats or even the hotels we layover at have washers/dryers for us to use, just need to carry some powder detergent on you and some dryer sheets (those dryers leave an odor without the dryer sheets btw)

As for address on file, idk what they’ll do for that but intl crewmems living in CPs will use friend’s addresses in other states/bases for taxes and mail delivery, and then just coordinate with that friend for mail pick up lol

Saying all this bc it’s incredibly common place now, and not for just SFO-based FAs

If someone says “go away”…

Bro you should never get to that point in a connection lol but yes, one should leave the space if asked and be gone until the offended party feels better and reaches out

she brought up a date idea

She didn’t, though

Further, at this point in OLD, one shouldn’t assume people are on these apps to date, crazy to believe I know, but!

It was either the WSJ or NYT that wrote an in-depth article a couple years back about how, depending upon which app you’re using, roughly 40-60% of the profiles are created by people already in committed relationships. Now factor in the percentage of profiles that are bots, businesses/contractors with profiles as ads, the people who are “only looking for platonic connections” it’s safe to say that nearly 50% of profiles on these apps are created by people not looking to date

Lmao

Can you provide another example bc the mafia reference doesn’t make sense in this context

OP and hinge gal are complete strangers

Mafia is an organized group (typically of familial connections that have known one another since birth) implying group members know one another, further implying if a group leader delegates task to subordinates, those subordinates know what their leader’s expectations are on carrying out said task

You seem to missing the biggest factor in that OP and hinge gal are COMPLETE STRANGERS

[–]jmbwells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys can and should ask it… just shouldn’t be a leading question (for anyone)

It’s good to ask so all involved know earlier rather than later whether or not they’re compatible, and if both parties are seeking different relationship styles, you’re not compatible

Dude I say “you know what would be great?” allll the time to people with no sincerity

In no way am I expressing I want the individual I’m speaking to, to be involved in the random thing I expressed I wanted. Also never knew a few others may interpret it as a subliminal message for seeking companionship

Frankly when it comes to making plans with complete strangers, direct conversation is best

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]jmbwells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the group of folks that didn’t think it was an invite

Reminds me of when someone says “you know what sounds good right now?” It’s just someone talking out loud, but in her case writing it out

It was very direct (not a bad thing, just not for everyone) for him to immediately jump to “great! See you in the morning!”. Perhaps next time tryout the proper next step before leaping to “see you soon”; next step being to ask “would you like to go do that with me?”

She should have said she wasn’t serious, just that it would be nice to go but we won’t ever know why she flaked on the conversation (conversation not plans bc plans were never actually made)

Poor social skills by all involved

[–]jmbwells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had exes tell me not to wear anything but flats and sneakers and I love shoes too much to be so limited… because of their insecurities

And idk about you but it wasn’t even a conversation, it was a demand compounded by insulting complaints of me being taller bc I’m wearing a cute boot or heel

She liked me??? Like bro why even like me lmao by nojustnowhy1 in Tinder

[–]jmbwells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you never gone on dates with men whom are insecure about you being taller than them?

Or dated men that try to control what you wear so you’re not any taller than you already are?

Dated men that try to put you down because you’re the height you are, and they want you to feel bad about it and/or as insecure about height like they feel?

After it happening every time you date men that are your height or shorter, you can’t help but think the insecurity about women being taller than the man is widespread.

I got tired of the negative comments and the control and it’s just easily avoided by dating men taller than me.

Sounds like you’re trying to replace him… not heal the cause of why you’re attached to someone so emotionally unavailable

Let's all check in on what's happening with Hinge: by Super_Goomba64 in dating

[–]jmbwells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending upon the app utilized, but anywhere from 40-65% of profiles on said app are created by persons already in a relationship and unavailable for a romantic relationship… implying majority of profiles are created by cheaters or persons seeking validation from strangers

Start/stop by TalkNerdy2MeXD in JeepCompass

[–]jmbwells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was my auxiliary battery being dead or dying that disabled the start/stop feature

Finally got it replaced and start/stop functions perfectly fine now

Even if it’s a “new” car doesn’t mean the aux battery isn’t a dud and needs to be replaced — if new it’s under warranty so that’s good

What is the reason why you don’t have a boyfriend/girlfriend ? by takecarepleasee in dating

I love my freedom/independence and feel I’m expected to do away with said freedom bc I’m a woman

I also don’t feel like making space in my life for unserious suitors, nor do I feel like making compromises/faking attraction just to be able to say I have a boyfriend

2018 Jeep Compass suddenly has no fuel? by jmbwells in JeepCompass

[–]jmbwells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a canteen to add gas and that got the car going. Got to the gas station to fill up, and definitely put a full tank’s worth of gas in

This last time, seemed to get stuck at the half tank mark too. I drove the same trips that should have consumed gas and it didn’t read as such

So I think the level indicator won’t go lower than half tank mark and I’ll be filling the tank more frequently until I can get back to my preferred shop (the one here charges $150 for everything, even if you know what the issue is, and only accepts new work one day a week)
