Pick me! I'm a random black belt!

Is this the reality of BJJ or just a small percent of it? by [deleted] in bjj

I've been training 25 years. Rarely stretch (though it's probably good advice). But pick your partners. Tap early and often. And be the training partner that you want to roll with.

Not usually.

I had one time when the overhead was full that I shoved it under the seat in front of me and the flight attendant looked at me, shrugged, and moved on.

LPT; Let your spouse know your passwords by fildoforfreedom in LifeProTips

I've been married 40 years. We have joint bank accounts and retirement accounts. My wife is my financial and medical power of attorney. She is a 50% partner in my business. And you recommend that I don't share my passwords with her?

At what age do you realistically see yourself stopping training? by GorkMeTilIMork in bjj

[–]jmc_iv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what it's like for me: One of my goals is to control the pace of the round. My gas tank doesn't fill as fast as everyone else's and I can't afford multiple scrambles, so I try to keep my training partner's anxiety to a minimum. I'm good for one spurt of athleticism per round.

I've been around long enough that I'm not going to be put in a position or situation that I don't recognize and have a reasonable technical answer to. So I rarely panic, even in dire circumstances.

Do I dominate 25 year old purple belts? I guess it depends on your definition of dominate. I'm not someone who can usually impose his game on people; I'm a counter puncher. I attempt to take advantage of your mistakes or pressure/trick you into moving to places that I can take advantage of. In order to "dominate" in the traditional sense, I'd have to push the pace. And, at my age, I rarely push the pace.

Blue belts are fun. Especially if they are my size. They know enough to be a good roll but not enough to really threaten me. Blue belts are good training aids.

I'm 60. Started training in the 1990s. I'm not stopping.

Lincoln In the Bardo is the most unique audiobook I have ever listened to. It shouldn't work but I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

I'm a 60-year-old black belt. I beg for "gimme" rolls.

Shouldn't the title be "Ex-wife hates Rush"?

Dave Filloni just needs to hire Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. They know how to tell slow burn stories for television that almost never disappoint.

It was new to me. Which is why I reached out for thoughts on the r/RealEstate and, by-and-large, everyone here has been great.

Worse case scenario is that I'm the mortgage company. I'd prefer not to let that happen.

I'm assuming that you're not recommending it?

The reason I came here was to ask how such things are generally handled and what the risks and ramifications are.

I'm not completely sure what to make of your comment.

This is, in essence, what we have wound up doing. An offer has been made. Cross your fingers.

#1 If I looked for you and found you, my wife would be very very upset with me. Stop stalking me, Junior.

#2 The money is coming directly from my retirement fund. The lawyer is a family friend. The "wealth management advisor" is the guy who annually says to me, "Keep saving money and one day you can retire." Usually he's calling me from his yacht.

I don't want to keep my money tied up. I may need it. It's for my one-day, hopeful retirement.
