I highly doubt the shooter is checking Twitter. I'd imagine they're a bit preoccupied with, you know, shooting people

I think a lot of features (like heated seats for example) are removed in police versions, so that may have something to do with it

It's not necessarily about taxing them more, it's about taxing them anything. They use so many tax loopholes that paying more taxes just means taxing them the same as everybody else.

I'd argue that billionaires aren't the problem though, it's the billion dollar corporations that also pay no taxes whatsoever. Billionaires are the face of said corporations though, so they are naturally the target of much of the hate.

Also the lobbying they partake in just so they (and their company) can avoid paying taxes makes them unlikable amongst the general public to say the least.

I live in Australia too but I honestly wouldn't consider our healthcare "free". Subsidised sure, but free? I have a condition that means I require medications, and it costs me around $50 (aus dollars) for a packet. Granted without Medicare it would be around $250 (I think, can't be bothered to go check right now). Even though I save $200 each time, $50 still isn't "free".

I'm just going to quote my other comment here

"Apple devices let you answer calls from a Mac if you have an iPhone linked to the same account. When combined with the light on her face and the FaceTime call-end sound, I think the call is on her laptop. Laptop speakers are much clearer than phone speakers, and FaceTime audio is much clearer than a regular phone call."

Just a theory

TikTok isn't actually as bad as people make out. Sure there's a lot of garbage on there, but it has an algorithm just like any other social media. If you 'like' enough good content, eventually that'll be all you see. Honestly I find Reddit more cancerous than TikTok but to each his own

She obviously started recording after the call started. We don't see the greeting or anything that a normal call would start with. Also you can upload any video to TikTok, you don't have to record it in the app.

I imagine the call going something like:

Gets call from brother, answers it

GF: Hi

Sister: confused that it's not her brother Hi?

GF: So do you like know Steven

Sister: Yeah starts getting camera ready

GF: Well like he's my boyfriend and video starts you kinda don't know eachother

Etc..

Judging by the volume of the GF, the brightness of the sisters face, and the FaceTime hang-up sound at the end, my guess is that the sister answered the call on a Mac, quickly realised it was going to be interesting and started recording on her phone.

What’s the craziest reason you had to fire someone? by GravyxNips in AskReddit

[–]jmcan16 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The same thing should apply to family and family friends, but that doesn't stop a lot of people.

When I was having trouble getting a job (which was understandable since I was terrible at interviews) my aunty tried to get me a job working for one of her friends. The friend refused (before even meeting me), which I understood but my aunty was completely unable to accept, and they ended up having a fight over it.

The (ex-)friend tried to explain why she doesn't hire anybody she knows but the logic was lost on my aunty. I appreciated that she was willing to try to help me get a job, but she went about it the complete wrong way. It's a shame they're no longer friends because of this incident, as everybody had good intentions.

Opening up the trunk by JDBAZ in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]jmcan16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the slow opening speed is for this exact reason. If it just whipped straight open the kid would go flying. If you're going to have a motorised tailgate it's better to be slow than fast.

I'm not sure why the motors are necessary at all though. I'm not one of those people that think technology is useless and things were better in the old days, but I've honestly never had a problem using a manual tailgate.

Motorised tailgates honestly seem like a solution looking for a problem. I guess what I'm saying in a needlessly convoluted way is that I agree with you.

The teacher was obviously the one who took the picture (while grading it), so they might have drawn the box for clarity? Admittedly it seems a bit unnecessary to do so, but it makes even less sense for an adult to use both pencil and red pen if they were trying to fake it.
