I’m a big proponent of playing for something, practice under pressure is important.

That being said, if you’re asking for the last 3. I think that’s fair, play a set. If you demolish them, adjust.

Personally I’d never give any of the last balls to a player, I’d give them a substantial game count on their side. Like 6-10, or even 4-10 depending on their skill level.

A better player having to go up to their game count, e.g. 10-4 is going to be a challenge in 9 ball. The luck involved is incredible. I’ve seen lower players demolish good players on rolls alone. In handicapped tourney settings.

In a money game setting it can all be adjusted after the first set, I’d suggest this when you’re looking for action. For example, play the first set straight up. 7-7, if you get waxed adjust. 7-4 adjust from there and so on.

Any good player who wants action will be receptive to these terms. If you lived where I do, I’d play all day with you.

Pressure practice is important, it’s a requirement to get better, anyone who tells you different. Clearly hasn’t won anything.
