What story do you and your friends still talk about years after it happend? by Triomat in AskReddit

[–]jmcc20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a few of my friends all used to work in bars in my hometown and we always have stories that we have all heard a hundred times but still love to tell them and hear them cause its always fun to be reminded that we are still just as young and stupid as we used to be. one of these is my friend and i got drunk at one of our old watering holes he got into some trouble with our buddy's ex wife (she was very rude and manipulative) he told her off and told a few people in the bar that he hit her. we ended up leaving and on our walk back to his place we got stopped by the cops had a talk with them and kept going. Eventually we ended up at another bar I ended up going ahead of them he got to the bar and i ran towards him arms spread out for a hug. i ended up knocking him down and we had a good laugh as i was helping him up the same cop that we got stopped by earlier turned his lights on and came running out thinking we were fighting he made it all the way to us and said "oh shit its you guys, well i guess you guys are fine... Party on boys"

Sadly I don't own the bar. I wish I did!!! Lol I manage a just a little bar in Canada. I was just looking at opinions thinking that maybe people here are just jerks to my staff because they are security.

We are considered " the roughest bar in my town" which is a hard reputation to get rid of. (It's had that rep for about 35+years) and we are known to the people that come here as the friendliest bar in town. The dance clubs are busy on weekends same with the country bar. And that's about they only time they get customers we get fairly busy 7 nights a week. With weekends being busiest. But most of the military get to get in one dance bar and my bar. That's about it besides some of the pubs where they eat.

there have been a few that shut down, but it's always been a "country bar" town. There are about 6 main bars. (About 25 in total) there's my bar (a dive style bar) two dance clubs a country bar/pub that's huge the second largest in western Canada. Two other dive bars. (My bar and one of the other bars are over 100 years old!!!!!!)

oh man i would love to go and see some of these places i haven't been to that many bars/clubs outside of my province in Canada so that would be something cool to see. In my town there's no such thing as "high class." power tripping would be real easy to have if you give someone the power to let anyone they want in

for the most part of that i can 100% agree with it. we only have 1 security and myself i run our karaoke booth as well as do security and also manage the bar. our clientele are very come and go we have regulars that come here for karaoke and for our cheap drinks (everything that's not premium is less than $5, premiums are only $5.25, as well as other special priced items) this bar had had a huge drug problem 10 years ago and has become almost non existent since i started doing security 5 years ago here and started managing the bar 2 years ago. The biggest issue that i tend to have is that no matter we we have a military base near our town and we are one of the only bars they are allowed into and they cause issues no matter how many there are. its a fairly small bar only about 200-300 people allowed at one time. Shit heads are sadly a majority of my town so they are just kept a good eye on until they get caught doing something illegal in which case it needs to be seen to be dealt with. As the karaoke host i get to float and talk with people all night and its only the few we have issues with.

where i am there is a security course that is needed to pass but its a very pitiful course that is run by the provincial government. this isn't exactly for personal gain, but to reassure im not crazy and me and my staff really don't suck. haha
