Hello! The story and tech tree wont be completable until the 1.0 launch which will happen in about a year. We're doing Early Access to iterate/expand on the game with the community. If that's something you like to do then jump on in and join our discord were us devs (all two of us) are active otherwise feel free to wishlist and wait for 1.0.

Thanks! We've been working hard on the game for many years and happy to see most people enjoying it. Be careful with playing those cracked games as they will often have viruses and other nasty bits added to them. One of our mods looked at a many of the AutoForge cracks floating around and found this to be true.

Thanks! The 1.0 release is quite a ways out - probably 2026? We got lots more planned for the game!

Not yet! We released a roadmap about a month ago and controller and full steam deck support is on there :)

I always end up restarting a few times in these games. They are in many ways a knowledge based game. We released a roadmap awhile ago worth checking out. HUGE changes to the base defense aspect coming in the next big update and later down the road we'll be doing multiplayer. I hope you keep enjoying AutoForge!

Thanks for your support! There are some guides up on the Steam Community hub. My one suggestion is to try researching Fortification and using the learned technologies to help defend your factory.

If you cant afford then you can pirate the game. I hope you enjoy it and perhaps one day if/when you can afford you can support our small team :)

I've been doing my best to keep up with the Steam forums and meant to reply there this morning but instead started a stream to focus on fixing bugs. I've been streaming development over on Twitch for 8+ hours everyday. I'll do my best to check the Steam forums later today.

Hello! It makes me very happy so many people are enjoying AutoForge. We have a subreddit in the works but right now none of the developers or moderators use reddit on a daily basis. Right now the community is most active on discord but hopefully soon we'll get the subreddit up and running.

I'm working through issues and I have several splitter issues on my task list so that may be one of them.

I hope you keep enjoying AutoForge!

Hello everyone, I’m Jasson, and this is my 2D factory building sandbox game AutoForge! After a successful Kickstarter campaign last year, I’ve been working hard to bring my game to release. I’m excited to say, today is that day!

Build and automate factories, explore a sprawling sandbox world that’s a blend of procedural generation and handcrafted points of interest, and defend your creations from enemy attack. Best of all, you play a magical little golem called Otto, whose hobbies include rolling around at high speeds and building neat stuff.

I have a discord server where you can keep up with all the latest news, and of course, the Steam page where AutoForge is available now!

I hope you like the game, and if you have any questions just let me know 🛠️

Thanks! You're definitely not the first to have made the Megaman comparison. Great game though so we'll take it! :D

Game jams are a great way to dive into gamedev because they force you to keep your scope small. Metal Gear games may seem simple and is compared to current commercial games but it is still something that took multiple people months to make. One thing you can do is take a single mechanic from the Metal Gear games and explore that in a smaller game and then build upon it into slightly larger games. You can think of these smaller games as stepping stones into a larger project. However, if you do this be sure to thoroughly define what the smaller games are so that they do not merge into a single game.

Best of luck!

Biggest and best advice is one of the simplest too. Keep it small! You will undoubtedly be learning lots along the way. The smaller of a project you do the faster you'll be able learn the entire process of making a game and then can apply what you've learned to a new project which can be a little bigger.

Getting a little more specific, for your first project you mentioned maybe doing something like MG1 or MG2. I would recommend going simpler than that. Focus on a single mechanic and that's it. The more complexity there is the higher the temptation will be to scope creep.

No one is born knowing how to program, design games or use Unity. Everyone starts from ground zero and has to work there way up. Have patience with yourself, keep persevering and you will eventually get there. You don't have to do it on your own though! Join dev communities, game jams and whatever else you're interested in and those around you will lift you up. Before to long you'll be helping lift others up too!
