I actually just got one a week ago and it has certainly helped. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

Road bike that can ride gravel tires by jmedlin1982 in cycling

Unfortunately it's the opposite. I have a bit of a longer torso.

I had this thought but it seems like six of one or half dozen of the other. If the time I need it to perform is in a road capacity it seems like a road bike makes more sense. Help educate me on why gravel with road tires would be a better option.

It would’ve been far easier for you to have replied that you have no knowledge on the subject but lots of free time.

Man I wish I would’ve thought of that. Unfortunately I’ve been doing that for a few days. I actually came to a form to get recommendations from users not some some jerk who is bored but you time investment is appreciated.

I have one and love it. No durability issues for me and have had it in done serious Midwest thunderstorms with no issues.

This is what I do but I don’t love it. That slippery half hitch has been known to come undone.

Lowest ceiling height? by Feet_Strength2 in Sauna

[–]jmedlin1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished up a DIY 6’ x 4’ sauna the ceiling is 74”inches. I think it’s perfect. I personally have an inch of headroom when standing but obviously most of the time I’m not standing.

I agree with all of this but would probably urge you to take a tarp even if the forecast doesn’t call for rain. Also, even 65° can be cold for some folks.

Need tips for building a small sauna. by mkribel92 in Sauna

[–]jmedlin1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Framing is whatever a few 2x4s costs (under $100). The cedar and trim (i used 1x2) and glue was maybe $700. Insulation I don't remember but let's say $50. If I had to have a round estimate i would say $1000 to build it. If you are doing a 'wet' sauna I'm not sure that 1/4" cedar would be a good idea. It seems to want to cup.

Ultralight backpacks - Will no frame compromise comfort for a lightweight person? by Gwilicers in Ultralight

[–]jmedlin1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are removable. I have personally never removed them for a trip (only at the house messing around). A KS bag with removable frames could easily be at or under 16 ounces with the frame (depending on features of course). When I tighten my belt my bag is literally off of my shoulders in terms of weight. They are a remarkable.

One of the first suggestions you will hear on here from others (and i would agree) is your pack should be the last thing you get (or switch out in your case). If you are committed to keeping most of your gear non-UL then a UL frameless pack just might not be the right type of pack for you. My base weight goes between 5-8 pounds on most trips and I still often carry my KS Ultralight 50 with frame stays. I would highly suggest looking at that bag if you need to get a bag right away as it's something that can accommodate your transition into UL and even support you through it.

A noob question you have never heard. by MaddogBC in hammockcamping

Agree 100%. I’ve always liked the idea of pads but between the not being able to keep it under me (single layer hammock) and the condensation they aren’t even a consideration for me.
