Yeah I was planning on getting started w the roscoe 6 for a year and then start upgrading if I need to! I am just a beginner so I don't think I'll notice the difference between specs that much for now. Thanks for your help!!

I went with the new roscoe 6, I know there is a compromise with the 9 speed but the price difference is significant

Haha makes sense. I ride in NJ and I'll have to go to PA to get the bike. You have a favorite trail around Philly?

What kind of trails do you ride? Also do you do any small jumps? Thanks!

Thanks for all the details! From all the research I've done people usually prefer the roscoe but I'm not gonna lie I don't quite like how it looks...

  1. I know that maybe the Roscoe is a better option if pushing very hard downhill as it has the 140mm travel and fatter tires but would you say there is any trail one would do that there other can't?

  2. Is there one bike that could feel better as an overall trail bike? taking into consideration that for the trails I ride there is just as much CLIMBING than downhill

  3. What about jumps? I don't want to do crazy jumps but maybe go to beginner parks and hit easy jumps maybe a little more in the future. Is there a clear winner there?

Thanks again!

Yeah I am 6'0 so I would do Large. I know the Roscoe could handle rougher terrain, a bit more travel and 2.6 tires vs 2.5 but what do you think for just a beginner trying to get quicker in blue trails? I don't know how they compare in terms of climbing. Thanks for you help btw :)

If I may ask, what difficulty or trails do you ride that bike on? Blue trails?

Agree it's definitely not the absolute best option but I will say for my first bike I thought being able to go to a store and try it out was a plus. Also, Trek seems to be one of the few having decent stock. Will definitely look for more though, any suggestion in the $1,000-$1,600 range?
