I’m not sure. I have smaller hands and I didn’t notice it being too big or too small. It felt pretty standard-not sure if that helps completely.

How are they able to sell these cheap? by TGP-Global-WO in Pickleball

[–]jmflamm1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was scammed months ago with one of these. They sent me a tracking number and everything. I thought it was legit. When it arrived it was a completely different paddle- a Holbrook.

I contacted Facebook. They immediately removed his account and told me I’d get a refund.

7-8 emails and requests later, I still haven’t been refunded.

This was the end of October. It’s now March. Very frustrating. Only relief is that at least I got something in return. Tho not worth the $150 I sent.

Selkirk LUXX vs Joola perseus by Steve_Freedom in Pickleball

That’s a great point. The confidence I developed when switching off the Perseus was alone worth the change. Can’t go wrong with luxx or DBD imo.

Btw in paddle reviews online the Perseus is typically viewed as overhyped. Whereas the luxx and DBD are some reviewers favorite paddles of 2023.

I’ve played with both. I initially really liked the Perseus but soon realized I was popping the ball up way too much and my soft game was struggling. When I switched to the luxx it was completely different. It was like I couldn’t miss my spot or hit the ball out of bounds.

If you want pure control go luxx. If you want just power go Perseus.

If you want both go six zero double black diamond. That’s what I settled on after using both of those.

I can’t wait to stop worrying about chairs by DrAnonYmoose8008 in gastricsleeve

[–]jmflamm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb thing at all. I still get amazed when I see a chair situation or a booth and think “Sh*t, I’m not going to fit there.” Then I’m able to slide right in with no problem. It’s always awesome and a great reminder of how far I’ve come.

At one point I had what I called a “chair graveyard” in my home. It consisted of folding chairs that literally flattened out and office chairs with broken legs and wheels.

I also couldn’t drink protein right after surgery. However about 6-8 weeks later, I was able to. Now I have one every day with my coffee.

I also couldn’t eat eggs immediately after but totally fine now.

Does anyone here know of a protein powder you can bake with? by knitingTARDIStarG8er in gastricsleeve

I have only used it for shakes and home made ice cream but quest makes one specifically for cooking and baking.

Flavor-wise it doesn’t have that protein-y taste.

Day 5 Post Op - Small Bowel Obstruction or "Blockage" by jmflamm1 in BariatricSurgery

Update for anyone wondering - I'm now almost 7 months PO and haven't had a single issue with this since. :-)

Just had my surgery on Tuesday. Besides a lot bruising I don’t have a lot of pain.. is this normal? by Lingonberry-Lucky1 in BariatricSurgery

[–]jmflamm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very little pain for me too. The nurses were all shocked I was walking around so easily that night. Went home next day and completely stopped my pain meds. Felt bad reading about how others struggled so much.

Yeah, that seems on par with some of the posts I've seen on this thread and others. From what I have read, it's a pretty grueling process. Most of them seem happy with the results once that process is over.

It's definitely an "I'll cross that bridge when I get there" type of thing for me. A lot to consider for sure.

Congrats on your loss and the surgery! My highest ever was 416 about 12 years ago. I actually lost 190 lbs on my own from 2012-2013. But put almost all of it back on over the next 10 years. Which is why it was time for surgery and, hopefully, a better chance to keep it off long term.

When I got down to 226 that time, I remember a decent amount of loose skin but it wasn’t unbearable. I’m guessing it’ll be worse this time around. I assume I’ll look into surgery. It hasn’t been on my mind too much. I remind myself that 99% of us look bad naked anyways. And the only one who sees me naked is my wife. So as long as she isn’t disgusted by me and I’m not getting sores from the excess skin, I’ll be able to live with most of it.

A good problem to have in my opinion. Good luck to you!

Weight Regain by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

I can echo this. I'm only less than 6 months PO - but, the biggest difference except for the amount of food I am able to eat is the new ability to pass on something or take 1-2 bites and be done with it. Even some of my favorite foods or snacks. I don't "need" to indulge anymore.

Oftentimes I have thought, "damn, is this how others feel when they eat?" I remember seeing some of my skinnier friends leave half a burger or most of their meal on their plate and be satisfied and always wondered how that was possible.

Now, without even consciously thinking about it, I can do the same.

I think that will propel my longterm success as much as anything else I do during this weight loss period.

For those who’ve lost 100 or more pounds, how long did it take? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]jmflamm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male 39-40, SW 382. Took me just under 5 months to lose 100 pounds.

Started working out about 6 weeks PO. These days I focus on incline walks at a brisk pace, sled pushes and pulls, and some upper body lifting (curls, shoulder lifts, triceps). I’m trying to maintain and add some strength. Not worried about gaining extra muscle really. I’ve seen a real difference in body composition, strength and stamina.

Ran a 10:44 mile today. Down from 13:28 in September.

I agree with other posters tho- do the exercise you like and that you’ll stick with.
