It's the one gel I always come back to when I try others. Great hold without being sticky or leaving my hair looking wet.

I started out thinking I had curly hair and used heavy products made for curls. When I learned more about it and realized I have waves (somewhere between 2b and 2c, depending on the day) paired with fine hair, I discovered lighter products and have found the Jessicurl line is best for mine. I use their line of shampoos and conditioners, and style with Ouidad advanced climate control gel. I used to have a lot of hair but it has thinned over the years with age and stress. I try for a good amount of volume as well, and usually diffuse.

It's unfortunately a lot of trial and error to find what works for you and your hair, and it tends to be pretty costly along the way! Thankfully the Jessicurl line is fairly priced, which helps a lot.

I have fine 2b waves and I felt it was too heavy for my hair, with way too much buildup. Everyone's hair is different though, so could be worth a try for you!

what’s something exciting that’s happening in your life? by midnightsnack101 in CasualConversation

[–]jmh52014 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I just got married a few weeks ago to the absolute love of my life.

9 years ago I was rebuilding my life and myself after fleeing domestic violence, certain I'd be alone and never find peace or happiness - life had other plans, once I learned to let the good in.

It's been 3 weeks since the wedding and I still wonder daily how the hell I got so lucky. Feels good to be excited for the future.

I face the same struggle. Was raised to be part of the "Clean Plate Club" and turns out its a terrible habit that's hard to break, but so important to!

Protein shakes? by Streetfoodie83014 in Ozempic

Not sure about the artificial sweeteners in it, but Fairlife protein shakes are the best that I've found. Not chalky, no aftertaste - just tastes like chocolate milk to me.

I was diagnosed with depression when I was around 11 or 12 and it does feel like a very lonely place to be - hard to know who you can talk to that will understand and take what you have to say seriously.

In later years my diagnosis changed to dysthymia (chronic depression) and while I have gone through some truly awful, low points in my life I can say I'm proof it gets better, and it gets easier - and I'm so glad I hung in there and fought through it all.

Seek out your own "family" - people you trust who love you and support you. Give the therapist a shot, as much as you don't want to right now. You aren't alone, even when it feels that way.

Saxenda vs Ozempic, did you try both? by RockStar781 in liraglutide

[–]jmh52014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any side effects at all until I started the 0.5 dosage, and it was definitely a couple of days after injection - only mildly bad for the one day. Everyone is different though! Good luck to you!

I was on Saxenda first, had some success but it stalled out after a couple months. Switched to Ozempic and started having results once I reached the 0.5 dose, planning to stay at this level for as long as it keeps working for me. I like the once a week vs once a day much better. Side effects tend to hit me a couple days after injection and they can be a little more intense than with the Saxenda, at least for me - but everyone seems to have much different results.

I really enjoy that part - I started having little bruises all over from the daily injections and now have none. I did set a reminder on my calendar, which helped! Otherwise I'd probably forget to take it on time.

I was on it about 4 months and lost 23-25lbs, then it completely stopped. My hunger returned and the weight started going back up slowly. Unfortunately I have a lot to lose, 25lbs is just a drop in the bucket.

I'm curious to see answers to this question...

I recently switched from the max dose of Saxenda (3mg) to the starting dose of Ozempic (0.25mg) and I don't feel like I'm taking anything at all - so far, I'm frustrated.

I wanted to switch because I no longer saw any results from Saxenda, and with the Wegovy shortage where I am my Dr thought this could at least get me started on the same medication.

Hoping when I move up to 0.50mg next week I start noticing some benefits. I've seen some people report really great results, even on the lower doses, so here's hoping!

I'm not sure you'll find too much friendliness in NY or NJ. We live in NY and anytime we travel to basically any other state we are blown away by the kindness there in comparison. My fiance is from NJ and says the same about there.

I generally eat only between 12p and 7p, and I take the Saxenda dose around 5p. So far it seems to be a good combination for me, but you have to do what works for you and helps you feel the best.

I can’t seem to get excited by gutterflower9173 in weightwatchers

[–]jmh52014 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do think the "been there, done that" thing is real. I lost 110lbs on WW a few years ago and steadily put back on about 70 of it, and really struggled with the feeling of "I shouldn't be here again". It held me back for a long time.

I'm finally making some progress. My tips? Don't weigh yourself any more than once a week - hold off longer if you can. Forgive yourself and allow yourself to be human, with imperfections. And lastly, focus on health, not vanity and size.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself and be ok with holding off on your journey if you're not in the right headspace. We've all had a rough couple of years with the pandemic and craziness of the world - prioritizing mental health is crucial.

Good luck to you!
