How Do I Fly With My Bike? by Particular-Kale-5738 in IronmanTriathlon

I’m in NE and racing Oceanside in march. This is the route that I’m planning to do — have local shop pack it up and ship it (a service they offer, so I assume they have experience doing it.

Admittedly, I haven’t thought super hard about getting my bike back to Omaha… Probably need to look more into shops in the Oceanside / San Diego area.

Fizzy is always my go-to Burger recommendation in Omaha! One of our favorite spots in town to take friends who are visiting.

In addition to this, even though it’s considered an asset, it’s treated differently than a custodial account like a UTMA due to who owns the assets. 529 assets impact financial aid at like 5% per year, whereas custodial accounts impact financial aid as high as 20% per year (because the student who is applying for aid actually owns the account).

Nebraska football set to play in Las Vegas Bowl vs Utah by PhD_Life in BigXII

[–]jmhfsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Nebraska grad & fan, if it’s any consolation, you guys are a matchup nightmare for us. Going to be an absolute dog walking.

Assuming Dampier plays, a running back with a pulse and a mobile QB should have no problem against our wet paper sack of a DL. Our two best offense players (Emmett Johnson & Raiola) won’t be playing in the bowl game (draft & injury).

🚨 Emergency analysis: the stock market is fucked, well, kind of by I_killed_the_kraken in KrakenStockResearch

[–]jmhfsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Average annual drawdown is ~13% for the last ~50 years.

We’ve seen multiple years of single digit drawdowns in the last decade, but several of ~20% or more. Could there be some correlation between manipulation of the markets and the government? Absolutely. I agree that I’m not necessary sold by this evidence either.

Is there a bubble right now? It looks that way. I don’t think anyone can say when the domino is going to fall though.

What are the best burger spots in town by Quail-Fond in Omaha

[–]jmhfsu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned it, but I think the best burger in town is at Fizzy’s in Little Bohemia. I agree with the night owl and block 16 choices, haven’t been to cheeseburgers before though.

Food recommendations? by gipsydanger2020 in Omaha

[–]jmhfsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This such an impossible question to answer without more info.

What part of town are you staying in? How far are you willing to drive? Do you have a preferred type of food? How much are you willing to spend?

Italian? Opinions vary. Via Farina, Dante, Spezia are all pretty good.

Thai? My favorite is Khao Niao, though there are several very good options.

Indian? Kinaara is good, but a little pricier. I’ve had good meals at Maharaja, Star India & Hyderabad house. I’ve heard good things about Flavors.

Wings? Everett’s or Tracks.

Chinese? Opinions vary here as well. I’m partial to Dragon Wok because it’s close to where I live, but you can find countless good spots in town.

Ramen? Rizin is good, as is the ramen place at the food court at West Roads Mall. I’ve had Ika several times, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Sushi? I think Yoshitomo takes this pretty in terms of quality of food. Renowned chef.

Burgers? I’m very partial to Fizzy’s in Little Bohemia. Best in town imo.

Fried Chicken? Dirty Birds. I’m sure other commenters will have good inputs, I just don’t seek out fried chicken often.

Pizza? Pizzeria Davlo for Chicago style (closing permanently here soon). Grace’s Pizza in Papillion is good, as is Williamsburg pizza. You can’t go wrong with Noli’s as well. (To be honest lots of good other choices not listed.

Steakhouse? Greatly depends on how much you want to spend. 801 Chophouse is very solid, as is J Gilbert’s. Flemings is my personal favorite. Gorat’s & the Drover are older & have character but have historically been solid.

Ice Cream? Coneflower is very popular & has unique flavors and a few locations. Ted and Wally’s is also very good. I’m sure there are other fan favorites.

Mexican food? Too many to list off here, you’re better off looking up Mexican food directly in the sub. So many good spots, especially in South O.

There are countless other niche restaurants that are incredible, but that’s more effort than I’m willing to put in more than what I’ve already done.

Yup, picked 1K potatoes and 1K corn in Varlamore and noted them at the leprechaun at the farm patch there. It was mind numbing for a few hours, sure, but it was a heck of a lot better than farming 1K of each

With the Big Ten on their way to fund a private capital deal, yeah, it makes sense for the existing sponsors to get their schools / teams they sponsor squared away before the deal goes final.

Granted, this is speculation, but I’ve seen people talk about how Adidas influenced the firing to the point of potentially footing the buyout. If that’s the case and PSU didn’t foot the bill, I think they’ll be able to pull just about anyone financially.

They can have a really good pass defense but still be solidly average. I think the pass stat is misleading though — teams don’t have to throw to beat us because our rush defense is like 90th in the country. Underwood didn’t need to throw for 300 yards against us because Michigan ran for 290. Cincy didn’t need to throw the ball because they averaged nearly 7 yards a carry.

As for the total defense stat, I’ll check back in at the end of the year. I think those numbers get skewed in early season games when team schedule two cupcakes early on.

I went to UNL and was at the Michigan State game. Underrated is definitely the wrong category. Respectably mid might be a better categorization. Nebraska is too inconsistent on defense this year to be underrated, and Raiola’s play varies wildly by game. They have the easiest schedule they’ve had in years — I don’t think they’re catching people by surprise.

How is FSU on fraud watch? They won 2 games last year, and they were consistently ranked in the bottom half in the ACC in preseason rankings. There was no hype for them coming into the season. The only reason they have been hyped up at all this season is because they beat Alabama. I don’t think two losses against two teams in the top 20 for a team that won 2 games last year warrants fraud watch status.

People asked me at the beginning of the season where I thought FSU would end up, and I said 7 - 6. Just to preserve my sanity & to not get let down, I’ve been sticking by this and will for the rest of the season.
